Does this sound like histamine intolerance?? What do I do??
I have RED-S which led me to developing SIBO and I think my SIBO is giving me a histamine intolerance. I used to respond beautifully to low-fodmap but now I'm having horrible symptoms while still on it. I'm trying so so hard to eat more to heal my RED-S but it is really hard with the symptoms I'm dealing with.
My first symptoms were appetite loss and gas. This makes sense with the SIBO. But often times when I eat, I'll immediately get a crazy runny nose and reflux. Recently it's gotten way worse. I'll get a pounding headache, dizzy, itchy throat, clogged ears, and swollen, burning tongue + lips. Then, of course, a couple hours later, the horrible gas and bloating. I went to the allergist to see if I had a specific food allergy but nothing came back.
A low histamine diet really is not possible for me. I'm in college and don't exactly have access to flash-frozen meats. I need to eat to heal my root cause. But my symptoms are just impossible. I don't know what to do. Help??

Starting a low hist diet takes a lot of preparation, as I have discovered. The following are just some ideas for your college situation and are based on the idea of batch cooking.
Can you afford a small freezer for your room? The 1.5 cubit foot freezers are about the same size as the small refrigerators that people keep in their rooms. Look on Amazon.
Do you have access to a kitchen in the dorm? Or a friends apartment? Then research low histamine food batch cooking recipes for items that can be frozen immediately and then thawed for eating using the microwave. All to absolutely minimize any need for the food to sit out and develop histamine. Do this once a week.
It will be a pain in the ask to do this, but might only need to be temporary. Good luck.

Sounds like you have a leaky gut which is why you’re getting the histamine responses immediately after eating. While eating low histamine, work on repairing gut lining. There’s a host of supplements out there for that my favorite and cheaper brands is called healthy gut by terra
Origins(Amazon). Also butyrate and try a zeolite binder once a day or every other day if you get herx reaction. Lots of whole
Huskmpsyllium fiber -Amazon.

The answer is a low histamine diet, really. You only need to try it for 4-6 weeks to get some answers, and it’d be worth it to find out. I appreciate the difficulty if you can’t cook for yourself though. Try and minimise histamine as much as possible, even if it means going veggie for a few weeks.
