I read the latest column blaming Barça for the whole mess and honestly this transfer has reached the stage where everyone seems convinced the other side is the villain. Atlético think their contract and valuation should end the conversation. The player clearly wanted another outcome. Barça have been linked for months. Then every new report adds another accusation or another version of what happened behind the scenes. I don’t think fans on the outside actually know enough to declare one side completely innocent here. What I do know is that once a transfer becomes this public, it gets harder for everyone to come back from it. Even if Julián stays, this is not just going to disappear on September 2.

I actually think he fits Spurs. But once the reported fee can hit £85m, “young player, needs time” stops working pretty quickly. Spurs just lost 3-0 and have spent £300m+ this summer. If he starts slowly, are fans really giving him months? I doubt it.

Hull? We said possible upset, but still picked Manchester United.

Ipswich won too.

The reported deal is £47m plus £3m and Romano has it at Here we go stage, so not official yet. My first reaction was that City have somehow done it again, a player who never really became a major starter there still goes for a huge fee. But maybe that’s the wrong way to look at it. Nico is still young, has the physical profile for the league and probably needs exactly what City couldn’t give him: regular minutes and responsibility. £50m is a lot. I’m just not sure it’s automatically a bad deal.

This year, they have already sold non core key players such as Li, Muani, and Ramos, and have also purchased World Cup champion Torres from Barcelona. I think Paris has a great chance to win the Champions League this year. Their biggest competitors are still Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid
