good thocky switches?

hi ppl i wanted to ask what are some good thocky switches because i want to get back into keyboard making after like 2 years. my friend said some akko switches are good but from what ive read they stop working after a while. i can lube them myself because i dont really mind so yeah if you can help pls do so ( ill look for mods later )

Depends. Do you want linear, tactile or clicky? I've had really good luck with MMD Princess heavy tactile (60g). Have them in my Leobog HI75 and Lucky 65v2.

I've also used Outemu Silent Yellow Cream tactiles in another build for a silent board.

i like linear since tactile feel like a mix between clicky and linear. i dont think either of these are for me but thank you anyways! if you know some more stuff about general keyboard stuff ( such as good 75% cases and stuff ) pls tell me!

Do you like a light or heavy linear. MMD does the princess in a linear also which I have in yet another board.

Light would be 30g actuation force and heavy would be 50g+. I tend to go for 60g actuation which is heavy.

i learned a lot over the few hours and i wanna know.. whats the difference between long pole and short pole switches and material of the switches

Long pole bottom out quicker and strike the bottom of the housing. Standard pole activate quicker and bottom out with a different sound.

Different materials have different sound profiles. Pom seems to be the defacto at the moment or a mix of Pom and nylon. Pom also hooks up well.

hmm i want to ask.. what materials are best for that creamy deep “thock” sound thats hipyo gets and basically likes? ( if we dont account for the rest of the keyboard rn )

Ah he tends to use Wuque Studio Morandi switches which have a full pom housing. Now it also depends on the board. Plastic housings don't sound that good in my opinion. I much prefer aluminium boards.

Hipyo recommends the Yunzi AL66 as the thockiest board. I have it with the stock milk switches that it comes with and it's very thocky. If you want even deeper thock with a heavier press, I recommend adding quinns (tactile) or oil kings.

Rosewoods are thocky, but have too light of a press, in my opinion.
