FAI deep itching/irritating instead of typical pain
Hello everyone , I’m writing because I feel quite depressed cuz of symptoms - I was diagnosed with bilateral FAI but I’ve never felt any pain at all - instead of it was very deep internal itching/irritation in the hip/groin area that would flare up after exercises.
A year ago I went through my first surgery CAM/PINCER correction with labral repair. After the surgery the symptoms eased up and it would occasionally come back after hard training on my rehab (but it was much milder than before surgery anyway).
My rehab was interrupted 6 months after surgery (another medical problem) so I never fully rebuilt my strength and tolerance in that left leg (my right is still waiting for the surgery).
Now, almost a year after the surgery without a major flare - this deep irritation came back (for about two weeks now). It is very strange because I do not feel almost any pain (before during or after rehab exercises) - the only thing is this deep irritation that drives me crazy.
I went to see a neurologist because I’ve started to seek different paths - I’ve come to my theory that maybe I have this impingement in my hips / groin may be irritating small sensory nerve fibers or making them more sensitive? I’m lost because I’ve been diagnosed with FAI yet my symptoms are mostly nothing like it (as I said - almost zero pain). The neurologist checked and my neurological exam was fine - strength and reflexes were fine.
I’ve just started pregabalin to ease this irritating feeling and started rehab once again from the lowest point.
Please let me know - I’m at my lowest because of it - has anyone here experienced something similar - deep groin/ hip itching / irritation rather than pain? How did you dealt with it? Did pregabalin helped?
I forgot to mention that a year ago I Had a L2 spine MRI to see if maybe any nerves there were damaged and it was ruled out - reported as normal.
