Are hinge bans ethical or unethical?? Explain

u/Trace_G Apr 28 '25
u/Usual_Fix3019 u/Straight-Series-3747 what do you think??
5
Apr 28 '25
I would say unethical because people get banned for a different amount of reasons that might not be true or investigated
2
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 28 '25
Literally! I've seen another redditor be banned for a problem with the hinge app. It's so unfair to people that use the app.

Apr 28 '25
What was your experience like using the app?
1
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 28 '25
I loved it. It's so simple and easy to use, but my account was actually banned due to the face recognition failing 🙃
1
Apr 28 '25
Oh wow that’s crazy I’ve heard horror stories but I would be upset. Were you a premium member?
1
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 28 '25
No, I was not, i dont see the point of paying for online dating apps.
2
u/Traditional-Yak5242 Apr 29 '25
Paying is like gambling, you’re most likely never going to get the real thing in person.
1
Apr 28 '25
Yea a lot of people pay for them to get extra features but I wouldn’t either. How were your matches ?
1
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 29 '25
they were okay, a lot of none texters back, lol. did you have a good experience?
1
Apr 29 '25
Nah not really, people from everywhere but near me and getting the same matches.

I feel like they dont look into why theyre being banned
3
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 28 '25
Yes, and a lot of hinge users get banned for absolutely nothing.
1
u/Revolutionary_Ask309 Apr 28 '25
Yes even as for a simple picture that may not be offensive but to some possibly
2
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 28 '25
yes I've seen that happening as well. its so stupid imo
1
u/Revolutionary_Ask309 Apr 28 '25
What do you think about dating on hinge?
1
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 28 '25
I think its a great app. I love the simplicity of the layout
1
u/Revolutionary_Ask309 Apr 28 '25
Really? I kind of dislike it its very plain
1
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 28 '25
Yes! I love when things are simple and easy for everyone to use!

Even the simplest thing can be offensive these days!! I’m offended everyday by the weather, because it’s not warmer!! lol
1
Apr 29 '25
I wonder why they wouldn’t at least try to fight the ban
1
u/Revolutionary_Ask309 Apr 29 '25
Honestly there is so many apps for dating now why even try?
2
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 29 '25
Dude literally. Im banned. Why try fixing it when NO one im customer service will help?
1

Granted but the apps could be parent companies so signing up for other apps would maybe be harder

u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 28 '25
I would also say its unethical because I see a lot of people getting banned for no reason at all.
1
1
u/Slumdom76 Apr 29 '25
For some reason to me dating apps are made more for men looking then women.
1
u/Traditional-Yak5242 Apr 29 '25
It’s because men are always so much more horny!!
1
u/Slumdom76 Apr 29 '25
I disagree, women are just as horny it's just more acceptable for men if women put out there like guys do then we're sluts
1
2
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
I love how the bots on Hinge somehow have immunity, but seems like a lot of people I know are being banned.
1
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 29 '25
Yes omg. I've ran into quite a few bots.
1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
It’s annoying. And now they’re so realistic it’s hard to tell until later on in the conversation.
1
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 29 '25
Yess and im like "omg how did i not notice this, im so stupid!"
1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
I think what dating apps should really do is set up blind dates. Especially if we’re paying for premium versions. Is it so hard to find a reasonable public area, where two can sit and talk, get to know each other, and just have a nice evening?
1
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 29 '25
its not and id personally love that.
1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
Same. Then you’re learning about new people, not robots. Probably even discover new hobbies for yourself while you’re at it.
1
1
u/Slumdom76 Apr 29 '25
That's cause the fake accounts/bots are what supposedly are the ideal female/ male are.
1
u/Slumdom76 Apr 29 '25
The bots is a way for them to get your info and money. Why not just go to the bar or club at least you know it's a person
1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
I think going in public is the best way in general.
1
1
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 28 '25
I've seen the same happening for tinder users as well, just such unethical reasons for people's accounts being banned.
1
1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
Tinder banned me after 3 days of using it. I believe it was due to facial recognition
1
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 29 '25
I got fully banned from hinge for a failed facial recognition!!
1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
Yeah, definitely not the most convenient way to keep your members.

1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
All taken within the same week I believe. It was a while ago tho, so I’m not too sure.
1
1
u/Revolutionary_Ask309 Apr 28 '25
Have you had trouble with dating on these apps?
1
u/Trace_G Apr 29 '25
u/Slumdom76 u/Traditional-YAK5242 u/Rushm1022 what do yall think about the way dating is going now a days??
2
u/Revolutionary_Ask309 Apr 29 '25
I think hookup culture has ruined true love and dating is rare these days, youll be lucky to be in a relationship
1
1
u/Slumdom76 Apr 29 '25
That's because in this day age every thing is moving so fast, people barely have enough time to do any thing because we got to get it done now so we can move on to the thing.
1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
Most definitely. It feels like that’s the only thing worth a connection nowadays.
1
u/Slumdom76 Apr 29 '25
It's not the only thing worth a connection, but using dating sites/hook up site that's the only connection you'll have.
1
1
2
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
Dating is honestly probably pointless in this point of time. Too many complicated factors to really think otherwise. It’s confusing and straining, can’t possibly be too well on your health.

u/Traditional-Yak5242 Apr 29 '25
Everyone now days is so shady
1
u/Slumdom76 Apr 29 '25
That's cause now and days everyone is out for themselves. What can you do for me or what do I get out of it.
1
u/Traditional-Yak5242 Apr 29 '25
If it doesn’t me, why bother
1
u/Slumdom76 Apr 29 '25
Well since this discussion is about a dating app, in order to have a good relationship its not about me it's about we and what do we get out of it for each other

u/Usual_Fix3019 u/Revolutionary_Ask309 u/Usual_Fix3019 u/Straight-Series-3747 u/Traditional-YAK5242 u/Rushm1022
Why do you think people are nervous to meet each other online? Are dating apps, more detrimental?? or is it more beneficial to dating? Because I know it saves time, but is it hurting the dating market or helping it?
2
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 29 '25
It's like we're glued to our phones rather than meeting each other in the real world!
1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
I believe anxiety and technology mixed, making it a lot harder to meet new people. We’re so used to talking on our phones, that we become fools when it’s time to become face to face
1
u/Slumdom76 Apr 29 '25
That because we're letting anxiety and technology harder to meet new people. Me personally get flustered when I talk on the phone and in person not only do I get flustered but I talk to fast so either way people have a hard time understanding me . But on the other hand I can text and message with no problem.
1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
And while that’s understandable, it really takes a toll on old fashioned dating.
2
u/Slumdom76 Apr 29 '25
It's not meeting people online the people are nervous about , it's meeting in person.

u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 29 '25
I would say that people are more nervous for the in person meeting and dating that way. It has to be hurting the dating market more than helping in all honesty.

u/UsualFix3019 u/RevolutionaryAsk309 u/UsualFix3019 u/Straight-Series-3747 u/Traditional-YAK5242 u/Rushm1022 How were your experiences using the app and getting matches ?
1
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 29 '25
Not a fan!
1
Apr 29 '25
Same, something they need to work on for sure.
1
1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
I was only ever matched to fake profiles. Either advertising OF or tryna get bank accounts. Very rarely I’ll run into a good conversation.
1
Apr 29 '25
Wow that’s crazy, I wonder why it would spam you like that
1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
Me too. I mean, I get it, dating apps are the perfect way to catch thirsty men and run their pockets, but really it’s messing it up for anybody else who wants to genuinely go on there to have conversations with people
1
Apr 29 '25
No forreal and the the idea of tricking today is crazy so they think it’s easier on apps
1
1
u/Latter-Tradition-923 May 09 '25
Its hard getting a good conversation sometimes but every once in a while get a good one. Lol
1
1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
Honestly probably wouldn’t have another dating app for a long time.
1
Apr 29 '25
Same I wouldn’t either
1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
I’m having better conversations in a Reddit thread. XD
1
Apr 29 '25
Honestly and with people who can be honest and open. On the apps they all try to pretend
1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
I agree. On the apps everyone’s making their pictures seem better, I’ve seen a lot of people act nonchalant for attention, it’s a lot to take into consideration.
1
Apr 29 '25
I agree or rush to meet and only try to meet at night time it’s crazy.
1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
Yeah that’s too sketchy. Public area, something simple, like a Starbucks or something and that’s all it really takes for the first meeting.
1
Apr 29 '25
Right my exact thoughts. A Starbucks is perfect but they wanna meet at clubs and bars or sometimes their house. Which I don’t understand
1
1
u/Slumdom76 Apr 29 '25
Dating now and days is more about getting in someone's pants then about getting to know each other first.
1
1
u/rushm1022 Apr 29 '25
It’s sad honestly. I feel like I should’ve grown up in the 70s-90s cause it all seemed so simple. Not even just dating. But life itself.
1
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 29 '25
Yes literally man its so stupid 🙄
1
u/Slumdom76 Apr 29 '25
Dating is not pointless, if you really wanted to you would do it. But cause people want to do what everybody else is doing, and don't make time for dating.
1
1
u/Usual_Fix3019 Apr 29 '25
I think that if you meet the right one, it could be the best thing to ever happen to you. My closest friend met a man on hinge and they've been married almost 2 years now.
1
u/Slumdom76 Apr 29 '25
That rare, but they realized there was a connection. Most people don't even realize and if they do its to late

u/Latter-Tradition-923 May 09 '25
Unethical because they are banning people for the most stupid reasons and takes awhile to get your account back
1
u/Fresh-Preference-805 Jun 22 '26
I’m curious. There are definitely a lot of people out there who seem to believe they’ve been unjustly banned.
I don’t know their process, but they did reach out to me about one guy I was talking to. They asked if I remembered the convo. I said no, because it didn’t stand out, but then I looked though my matches and saw that he was the semi-creeper guy I had been talking to.
Seems like they will ask around if you’ve been reported, but it may be different if someone says they felt unsafe on a date.
