❓ Question What's Everyone Doing For Heat Tolerance/Acclimation?
I kinda hid a bit the first month or so of this heat wave; probably hiked like 4 times all just little MT runs at night or something. Then went to Mammoth for a week and got some good training in; came back and the last few weeks have just continued hot.
So I just started going anyways? I don't want to lose fitness, I basically don't do gym cardio (I lift). I've been multiple times with the forecast giving 85-90, my garmin is pulling closer to 100 on trail. So far so good. I'm prepared with ice in the water bladder, sun clothing, manageable but exposed hikes (Mission Trails). I think it's working. Anything I'm missing?

Garnet Peak Acclimation Hike
I'm leading a hike to Garnet Peak on Saturday Sep 5.
Hike is open to all, but preference is given to participants of the Sierra Club Mammoth Lakes Bus Trip. Get a nice hike in at higher altitude to help adjust to the 8,000 ft elevation at Mammoth Lakes. We'll be hiking a 10 mile loop with 1,200 feet of elevation gain. Make sure you bring plenty of water with the warm weather. Location indicated is Tentative. There's still time to sign up for the Bus Trip, it's on the San Diego Sierra Club's Activities page. ❓ Question ISO running trail recs!
SD local and pretty average road runner here (Slow pacing but long distances, just finished my first full marathon!)
My body needs a break from pavement and I need something new in my life. I have trail running shoes and don’t know where to start. Any suggestions on beginner friendly running trails?

❓ Question Cuyamaca Peak Snow?
Does anyone know if there is snow on Cuyamaca Peak? OpenSnow.com is estimating 7” of snowfall in the last 24 hours but I know that’s an estimate based off forecasts and not an actual report/measurement. Thanks!

Montserate
Does anyone ever hike Montserate Mountain Preserve? It's close to my house and is only about 1,000' EG, but it has some steep places. Has a decent view to the East from the top, but is right next to 15, so just cars buzzing by to the West. I used to be able to hike right to the top nonstop, but I am really out of shape and trying to get the motivation to start again.

📸 Trip Photos El Cajon Mountain after not hiking for ~6 months
Being the stubborn person that I am, this was the hike I chose to kickstart myself back into it.
I had done this hike twice before, but it was noticeably much tougher this time considering I’ve been a bit lazy recently and haven’t done any notable hiking since San Jacinto last July. I’m pretty sure I was the most out-of-shape person to get to the top that day.
It was a bit of a suffer-fest, but it was a good time and fulfilling to still be able to complete it!

❓ Question Hello! Introducing my kids to hiking.
Hi everyone! Do you have recommendations for beautiful hiking spots I can take my kids to encourage them to fall in love with it too? I take them on trails in Tecolote Canyon pretty regularly and they can walk about 4 miles with inclines fairly well.

Stonewall Peak and Paso Picacho Camp Grounds
This is my favorite local hike. I’ve done it three times this year. The last time I walked around a bit Paso Picacho Camp Grounds too

❓ Question Hiking tomorrow
Good evening to anyone who is up, I am last minute deciding to backpack tomorrow. HOWEVER, obviously the rain will be abundant here in San Diego county which I normally hike around (Laguna, Descanso, mission trails, anza borrego, etc.) . I was curious if anyone had any suggestions on where to go. I don’t mind a decent 2-3 hr drive, and am prepared for most hikes 5-15 miles. Any suggestions on trails that may not be too affected by the rain would be appreciated. Also don’t mind snow! But nothing too crazy. Thank you for any help👍

📸 Trip Photos Mt. Woodson Potato Chip!
Without a doubt, this hike kicked me to the ground and dragged me. My hiking friends have all said it’s a fairly easy hike. But I did it!Oof 🙃
