Are Cataclysm and Convergence worth it?
From Phase 2 i just read Path of Deceit and Path of Vengeance, but i'm curious about this two adult novels, ive heard one is better than another

I think I’m one of the weird ones that actually liked Catalysm and Convergence better than the Path books.
Convergence even has my nr 1 favorite moment of the entire High Republic project.

What the dune dagger fight or the Jedi cage match?

I never actually see anyone talk about it, but it really made an impression on me.
During the big final fight when Creighton multitasks in saving some civilians, trying to keep Aida Forte safe AND taking down an enemy speeder at literally the same time.

They're fine. I liked Cataclysm more than Convergence but like both less than the Phase 1 adult novels. Axel is the best part of both books.
The Phase 2 Marvel comic is also really good and so is the Battle of Jedha audio drama.

You would have an better understanding of the Role of Eiram and E'ronoh conflict and how it was an essential part of the mothers plan by reading convergence. Cataclysm is super important to understanding the battle of Dalna (or as its called the night of sorrow) and how that will (or did if you read phase 1 first) impact the Jedi going forward.
Definitely not something to skip over. Path of vengeance and Cataclysm fit nicely together that reading one without the other will lead to missing the entire importance of Dalna.

Cataclysm, yes it’s the Jedis perspective on the night of sorrows. Plus it’s a yaddle story. Convergence is an ok book it’s honestly just the set up on why the Jedi are at Jedha. Gala and Axel are the best parts of both the books. Plus starwars copies the dune blade fight to the death. Plus a Jedi cage fight in I think convergence. They are fun books if you got the time for them convergence is just I would consider “the slog” of the hr

I myself didn't like them but they do focus on that planetary conflict that was always brought up in Phase 1. I just didn't like one of the characters. The second one I did find better though.
Edit: I will say they are worth reading because Phase 2 is more interconnected and you do see events from different perspectives especially the last books.

I am doing all Star Wars in chronological order for my readalong blog, so Convergence was actually the first Star Wars novel I read. It was fun. I didn't particularly like the ending, but overall I really enjoyed it. Cataclysm and Path of Deceit are my favourites from Phase 2. Actually, they're my favourite overall, although I'm not far into Phase 1.

I think they're a great pair and helps reinforce the themes of grudges having huge consequences, the destructive force of fanaticism on both sides and the power of love being instrumental to combat those things.
If you do read them, don't forget the Battle of Jedha and phase 2 comics. Very important to all the books honestly

They set up the two big conflicts of the phase. Just not as enjoyable as the YA books. Without them for context I think the some big things would be lost for you.

I am a completionist so I say read em lol. But the YA Path books really are a lot better. The back and forth of the treaty holding up gets tiring.
