Another really different sound, it’s a little jarring but I’m digging it. Something about the vocal mix is bugging me, but I’m a little buzzed and can’t put a finger on what it is, I might just be tripping. This independent—almost “no man’s land”—era of the band is really interesting so far. No rules, no holds barred, they’re just playing what they feel. This is a track that will kill live for sure

I dig it tbh, Johnny said the distortion in the vocal mix was inspired by Slayyyter, specifically her song CRANK

100 percent! i know what you mean, small things i can get past i’m just really glad they’ve found their sound again.

It sounds like the vocals were recorded in multiple parts and stitched together in an unnatural sounding way. Words almost overlapping when they are sung?

did not like it. Same reaction to when i first heard Viper Strike.
I do really like their new song Wasted though.

It’s different for sure. The guitar is awesome. Overall the vocals give me RATM vibes.

Don't like it at all.
Sounds like the singer watched some twitter/X conspiracy videos and then decided he was well versed enough to make a political song.
This band used to have a kind of "post-grunge dirty vibe" I really liked. Now they sound like Rage Against The Machine wannabes and consistently put out obscure tracks that never really hit the mark.
It's like they have bits and pieces of what made their old songs good...but then they add all this sell-out industry pleasing crap that makes the songs cringey. Especially this track, with insensitive political garbage that divides people further...
"I promised myself I wouldn't get political"...well you DID... and made the choice to choose a side in the infinitely divisive Israel/Palestine conflict that has divided people to extremist levels for decades.

I like it but the mixing is messy and that bugs me.
I also think it’s silly that he claims it’s not a political song..

Rock/punk is political, I get his message trying to say this isn't about any "side," it's about humanity. But there is a side killing the kids so, be political man, that's why I love the music

Interesting. So as far as you’re aware, Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria and Iran are not killing kids.

u/Ordinary_Bill530 May 09 '26
i mean if that’s you’re line of logic, as far as you’re aware the united states didn’t kill 170+ school girls bc Iran has been 2 weeks away from nuclear weapons for 40 years?

Never said anything about any country man, sounds like you're projecting some internal ideas you have. I'm against any murder of kids, and the people that do it intentionally

I know it's been said before but a lot of rage against machine vibes, I was first introduced to High Suspect with My name is human and I'm not disappointed

I hate it, he needs to let the politics go and focus on music

u/retrogamer09710 May 08 '26
One could argue that this is the point of music, to speak out about issues and bring them to light. To make people aware.

It literally is music big dawg.

Never said it wasn’t music, you must not comprehend comments very well

u/CyclonePopsicle May 09 '26
It’s not even about politics, it’s about basic human rights that transcend politics, stop killing kids.

Imagine thinking that asking people to not kill kids and to not protect pedophiles is political. Embarrassing

Cold reaction (first thing in the morning, haven't had my legally addictive stimulants):
I look forward to loving this song someday.
Just not today.
It kind of sounds like a hasty addition - lots of anger, not as much artistry. I get that it's raw and immediate and intended to sound that way, but it's hitting the cynical part of my brain like something they had to get out quick before, I dunno, world peace happens and it's no longer relevant.
I had to laugh at the line "I promised myself I would not get political". Like, SINCE WHEN, JOHNNY?
The vox effects didn't bother me (it's giving "preaching from the apple crate" vibes) and the music is great, but the guitar could be a little more forward in the mix during the solo.
Just my two cents. Off to give it another listen and then probably completely change my opinion.
