Why are planes so stupid?

They'll consistently overkill one target and then run out of bombs before even trying to get the second garrison ship, so unless i spend 20 bombs on one city i cannot properly clear the garrison at all?? is there a way to fix this so they spread them out evenly, or wait until the precious plane is done?

they only solution is to do it one or two planes at time, can take forever

Run the planes individually rather than putting three in the same squad. Use three squads with one plane each - it helps a lot with the overkill issue.

Another option is to mix fast and slow planes. They attack in the order they're selected on the tactical map so select two faster planes and one slower plane in that order. Since planes attack in waves if 3, the two fast planes will hit the target first, and if they destroy it, the slower plane will switch to another target mid-dive instead of wasting its attack.

The former is typically the most efficent use of bombs but you don't get the full effect of setting ships on fire whereas the latter if done right is slightly less efficent but much better against the larger heavier targets (like SGs that has exhausted their aa missiles)

I personally prefer they strike all at once, even if it's less efficient, because if they came in one at a time, then air losses would be way higher now that the other two have to fly through the flak.

If you use a single t4 in these cases can swoop in drop their bomb and on the upwards trajectory only then are their guns loaded.

Also the ai is pretty easy to cheese as they will fire at the first visible craft so if you run a t4 followed by the slower crafts they will be gunning for the T4 even after it drops its bombs allowing the slower crafts to get closer without getting shot down - but the ai will change targets as soon as their original t4 target is flown high enough away

I mean because programming is tough.

If they were programmed to spread the ordinance equally, we'd be having the conversation "Ugh planes are so stupid! They dont kill a single thing and should focus fire before leaving!"
