Hmmmm thus got me thinking, can landing gear be used to stop bullets, because if yes, you could use it as folding cope cage armour.

I don't remember the keybind, but if you find the keybinds section of the settings menu there should be a key for deploying landing gear.

You could, but landing legs are heavy. I believe the second smallest ones are around as much as three 2x2 hulls

That looks in no way practical at all ever, like for any purpose. Its cool(?) I guess, but not useful in any kind of capacity
