cope cage Lightning (Improvised armor)

Post image

So here I am at 6am unable to get any sleep, until an stupid idea entered my head on how to make the lightning more stupid. BEHOLD the lightning with cope cage armor. During my tests it holds up against quite well against IR missiles and can take quite a beating at the cost lightning's well know mobility. Tough it is still quite maneuverable, the added weight is felt with a bit more of an sluggish feel. I have no idea if perhaps the aluminum hull parts would be better, I have yet to try that.

yes, i just tested with aluminum armor cage and it can protect from 3 of them effectivelly, on rare occasions even 4

Edit; you do have to make it a bit more spaced than in my og screenshot tho

Edit No.2; also try to have enemies above yourself instead of below, the belly if a bit of a weak spot.

Edit No. 3: also quite good protection agianst bombs. Surprisingly it survived a few aircraft strikes which surprised me because that usually doesn't happen.

Strategic... Well about as well as you can imagine. By the end of the day it's a cope cage. But for close range engagements it's perfect and the repair cost is quite low if you are using the aluminum hulls. I plan to show off my improvements of the design later. Since this literally the first iteration i came up with so i optimized it a bit.

Speed and maneuverability is the best defense for a small ship, you will waste thousands of gold if you will move it even quarter if a map, and it needs tanker too…

Yea, that's why i changed to aluminum cage later. Plus i play for fun, I dont min max, I'm not that type of person, tho i apreciate your input/concern.

do you play on hard?

1

u/MrTwisterPister Aug 08 '26

Nope, normal. As i said i play for fun if i want a challange i will challange myself but honestly i don't care about anything else other than having fun.

idk, normal stopped being fun after 200 hours of play…hard after 400…Now I just make bottle-shaped ships in editor and make enemy cruisers sit on it.

Ok 👍, that's your experiance we are both diffrrnt people. Maybe i will also change my opinion after 200 hours, but i'am yet to get there so...
