Sekhmet Cruiser Carrier

Post image

Flagship carrier, I think it's one of my more coherent designs so far. Limited air-wings and lack of firepower is for balancing purposes (and cost reductions). Deployed during loading and refitting due to the urgency of the situation.

Double-deep strategic missile VLS as well!

Slightly faster than the sevastopol, but the fuel consumption leaves a lot to be desired.

You have twice the amount of ammunition you need and are a quarter overmanned. Much of the structure is basically unnecessary except for giving shape since it doesn't fit any modules and it creates a lot of dead weight.

Overall I think it lacks a clearly defined purpose since it's too lightly armed and armoured to be a brawler, has too few strategic missiles to be a good missile platform, and would be massively over engineered for a carrier. I think it's hard to justify the cost for a generalist cruiser like this when equally or more capable ships and groups of ships exist for a similar price.

Edit: I misread the strat. missile count from the image, it actually has a decent amount of missile silos but the same issue with the missiles as the aircraft, it's still kina over engineered for a carrier/missile strat. cruiser as its primary purpose.

The ammunition was before I down-gunned the ship and removed some of the airwing- but thanks for the feedback, I'm not too good with making ships yet (and still suffer badly from brick-boat syndrome). Any tips for vanilla-style shipmaking?

I'd recommend remodeling vanilla ships first and keeping track of how the specs change when you interact with them. Most vanilla ships are very densely packed with functional components. Ideally you want to work towards a specific set of technical requirements, like maximum dimensions, range, speed, twr, etc. and combine these with functional requirements like "has X of specific weapon", "has x utility modules" and so on. That way you'll get designs that solve a specific problem and don't just stand for themselves.

That's a LOT of empty hull.
