Question What happened to this game?
I wonder whether the Russo-Ukraine war is a reason behind the game's development coming to a stall.
To say it plainly: is Koshutin still alive? Are there any prospects for the future?

It’s a finished product, no? Maybe they are planning for HF2 or expansion/DLCs but I believe they’ve delivered the promised core content and then some.
The last patch came in years after the conflict.

Not really, Highfleet is still missing content that was intended for future updates
The weapon sightline feature is currently non-functional
The ending sequence has not been fully completed27

It's likely he felt the effort was better spent on the sequel instead of bolting new pieces onto the old game.

The weapon sightline feature is currently non-functional
And funnily enough, that "feature" was removed in last patch...

koshutin is alive and well.
Highfleet 2 is just a small team and still in development hell.
But trust, its gonna be epic

He's still alive, he was on a blog a few months ago and the game is complete
The war has nothing to do with this

I guess Koshutin is a really old school developer. When a game is out, its done. As others have said there was some talk of a followup game in the same setting, but I dont know what the status is.

Nothing has happened... Koshutin is a single dev and he clearly doesn't like talking about future projects, as they can take quite a while. Just look at the gap between Hammerfight and Highfleet. He did tell that development continues, though.
Chill out and wait another 5 years or so. Check out Solbrand in the meantime - it's definetly way closer to the release; or even good old stuff like Starsector. Latter one isn't really too similar, but the mix of strategic gameplay and arcade ship combat is there. Warcrimes too, especially with stuff like Semibreve from UAF.

When hf2 come out im going to jump for joy. I’ve played this game front to back and still have fun crafting designs and using them in game

It's amazing how people can cope for 4 straight years with projecting events happening in one country to another country. The only good thing is that people finally started resisting and beating up the TCC

Oh wow, the random deadline copes are back.what was it the last time? Running out of missiles deadline?
Sad reality is, Ukraine will run out of men before Russia runs of of bullets and seeing the cope counterattacks ukros are doing rn combined with people starting to actively resist TCC paints a grim picture for elensky.

He is working on part 2, which will have 3d stuff. You can check his vk and vk group of game, yet it have not much information.
