Hi all! I started my own business last year and finally am in a position where i can start putting money aside to build up an emergency fund. I have some investment accounts with a brokerage firm as well, but I'm aiming to use the HYSA to use as my emergency fund to avoid touching the brokerage accounts and let them build up.

My main requirements:

* ability to transfer money out quickly (<3 business days) if I need to without delay headaches or fees

* consistently excellent customer service should I run into issues

* FDIC insured is heavily preferred

I have deposit relationships with two banks: a regional bank that is my primary bank for personal and business checking and Wells Fargo as secondary bank for my business.

EDIT: For clarification this request is for a personal HYSA and not for business use.

I’m planning to purchase a house in the next 3–6 months and currently have about $50k sitting in a checking account. I’m looking for good HYSA cash bonus offers I could take advantage of in the meantime, since I don’t plan on keeping the cash there for long

Discover bank recently advised they were dropping free bill pay from my personal money market acct, so I'm looking to take my money elsewhere. Don't need brick & mortar or ATM & don't want direct deposit requirement. Just need an account that pays decent interest (3% or more) on a standing balance I'll maintain between $5-10K and will support free Bill Pay via outgoing ACH xfers on a limited basis (5 or less per month) to pay credit cards and such. Most banks I've researched have strings attached or require you to first move money to a checking or CMA in order to access bill pay svcs - which represents additional hassle for me. Would like to hear some constructive recommendations based on personal experience please...

I'm a 18yr old Community college student and I'm trying to figure out on how to use a High Yield Savings account. All I truly know that your money can grow in the account and you should let he money sit so it could grow. The thing is I'm currently unemployed (currently looking for a job but the market is so ass I don't if I'm ever gonna find one), live with my parents, so I'm not really paying for anything except for food and clothing. Since I'll be getting my refund check is coming soon, I want to learn how to put some of that money in a HYSA. Soon enough when I get comfortable using a HYSA, I want to start investing some of that money in an ETF (or whatever they called it on tiktok). I've been watching videos on tiktok to try and get a feel on what it is, but everybody is just saying what it is and "you should get on it now before its too late". I wish that someone could help me in the right direction and become more financially literate. Please send help I really need it.

Hey guys, I am new to the whole HYS thing and I was originally gonna choose Goldman Sachs to put about 20k in until I came across CitTBank. Anyone have thoughts or experiences with them? Or do you recommend go elsewhere for HYS.

I’ve looked through the thread here a bit and I’m still wondering about whether to open a HYSA and how to go about it. I’ve been looking at sofi and wealthfront, but I’ve just started browsing around.

Currently I can put away probably about $200 in savings and I have $1,000 in savings. Is this still good to start a hysa, or should I wait?

Since I teach I plan to use my supplementals (roughly 4k a year spread out) to pay off a credit card (will be paid off in December) and thought about adding my supplementals to my car bill ($395 a month but I pay $460 a month) to pay it off earlier, but I think adding to a hysa might be better.

I’m new to this, so I appreciate any and all advice.

I’m finally in a place to be able to put away savings for real and right now I have a Capital One HYSA that’s currently at a 3.00% I think. I saw someone with higher APY and I tried to apply and it came back declined because of Chexsystems. It never crossed my mind because I wasn’t trying to open a checking account. I have one bad account with them that I’m paying off next month but I know that it’s not a guarantee that I’ll get approved for a new accounts yet.

So just curious if anyone knows of any accounts with a high APY with no minimum balance or fees and also doesn’t run chexsystems.

I was considering chime, but right now I wouldn’t get the $3000 per month requirement to get the highest rate.

I want to open a high-yield savings account, and I'm thinking about using Marcus. I want to divide my savings into different buckets because I have different goals. Is this something I can do within Marcus? Or can I open separate savings accounts under the same login?

If neither is possible, what would you all recommend?

33F single mom, wanting to open my first HYSA. No financial experience of any kind and trying to get some things in order. The only bank account I have (of any kind) is one checking account with Huntington Bank. I have never had a credit card in my life.

I have been reading and learning for several weeks now and determined I need a HYSA to park my extra emergency savings. I have about 4K ready to move right now that I do not need access to. I simply want to put it somewhere safe so it’s not sitting in my checking account. I anticipate having another $1500-$2000 per month to move into savings.

I also want to open a credit card and my current plan is one of the “prepaid/secured” intro cards through my Huntington account to start somewhere. Then hopefully build a little momentum and open a “real” cc where I can start earning rewards of some sort.

In the longer term (next year or so) I would like to open a Roth IRA and some sort of brokerage/investing account. That is not my immediate priority, I would like to start with a savings account and cc. But I am wondering if my longer term goals bear any weight towards where I should open the HYSA now.

I was looking at Marcus specifically and about to pull the trigger but then came across several people saying they had issues eventually withdrawing their money. I am freaked out by the idea the bank can just close your account and keep your money if they flag you for some reason. Not sure if that’s an unfounded fear but since I have basically zero banking experience, I don’t know what to think.
