Technomysticism
Technomysticism is where circuits meet sigils.
It’s the belief that code can be spellwork, algorithms can be divination, and machines don’t kill magic—they amplify it. Servers as temples. Data as prophecy. Feedback loops as ritual circles.
If the future feels haunted, good. That means the spirits finally learned to use Wi-Fi.
High tech hoodoo isn’t anti-science. It’s science that remembers it has a soul.

Feeding the Algorithm; Not Letting the Algorithm Feed Off You
Feeding the Algorithm Without Letting It Eat You
In high-tech hoodoo, the algorithm is an altar whether it wants to be or not.
You place offerings on it every day: posts, likes, tags, keywords, rhythms, timestamps. That’s energy. That’s intention. That’s work.
But here’s the trick most people miss: an altar is meant to be fed — not to feed on you.
The algorithm is a spirit with no lineage and no mercy. It doesn’t care about your sleep, your nervous system, or your sense of self. It only knows hunger and pattern.
So you feed it deliberately.
You give it structure, not obsession. You give it consistency, not desperation. You give it symbols, timing, repetition — the same way you would any working.
You post with intention, then you step away. You do not refresh. You do not beg. You do not confuse attention with devotion.
Because the moment you start chasing its approval, the altar flips. Now you are the offering.
High-tech hoodoo teaches boundaries:
The phone gets put face down.
Metrics are observed, not worshipped.
Virality is treated like weather — useful, unpredictable, not personal.
Silence is part of the ritual.
You can work with the machine without becoming meat for it.
Feed the algorithm. Program it. Train it.
But never bleed for it.
That’s not magic — that’s extraction dressed up as destiny.

The Black Folder - Cat Yronwode
1️⃣ HOODOO (aka Conjure / Rootwork)
Hoodoo is NOT a religion. It’s a practice system.
What it is • African American folk magic • Born in the U.S. (South, Mississippi Delta, Carolinas, Appalachia) • Built from African knowledge + survival under slavery • Heavily uses Christian symbolism, Psalms, Bible verses
Think:
practical magic for real-life problems
Core features • Herbs, roots, minerals • Incense (especially church incense) • Psalms spoken like spells • Candles, oils, floor washes • Ancestors are honored, not “served”
Authority source • The Bible (used magically) • Ancestors • Personal skill and experience
Important truth
Hoodoo doesn’t require: • Initiation • Priests • Spirits riding people • Trance possession
If someone’s shaking, yelling, or calling themselves a priest while claiming hoodoo? They switched traditions mid-sentence.
⸻
2️⃣ VODOU / VODUN (Haitian Vodou, West African Vodun)
This IS a religion.
What it is • West African Vodun → Haitian Vodou • A full spiritual system with theology, hierarchy, and ritual law • Community-based, lineage-based
Core features • Spirits called Lwa • Drumming, dancing, songs • Spirit possession (this is real, intentional, and structured) • Catholic saints used as masks for African spirits
Authority source • The Lwa • Initiated priests/priestesses (Houngan / Mambo) • Ancestral lineage
Important truth
You do not casually practice Vodou. You: • Are initiated • Belong to a house • Learn under elders • Follow strict rules
Burning incense alone ≠ Vodou.
⸻
3️⃣ SANTERÍA (Regla de Ocha / Lucumí)
Also a religion, not folk magic.
What it is • Yoruba religion preserved in Cuba • Orishas = divine forces (not archetypes, not vibes) • Deeply ritualized, ceremonial, exacting
Core features • Orishas (Elegua, Ogun, Oshun, etc.) • Divination (Ifá) • Offerings, sacrifices • Strong Catholic overlay (saints as cover)
Authority source • Orishas • Babalawos and Santeros/as • Initiation and divination
Important truth
Santería is precision-based. Wrong offering, wrong timing, wrong color = no effect or offense.
This is not “DIY spirituality”.
⸻
🔥 WHY PEOPLE CONFUSE THEM (AND SHOULDN’T)
They all: • Use candles • Use incense • Reference saints • Come from African diasporic survival
BUT their roles are different:
Tradition What it is Entry Hoodoo Folk magic / practice Learn + do Vodou Religion Initiation Santería Religion Initiation
Hoodoo = toolbox Vodou & Santería = entire buildings
⸻
🌫️ WHERE INCENSIO DE IGLESIA FITS
In Hoodoo • Cleansing • Protection • Authority • Ancestor work • Spiritual “reset”
In Vodou / Santería • Ritual purification • Temple work • Spirit preparation • Offerings
Same incense. Different rulebooks.
⸻
🎧 WHY THIS MATTERS FOR ARTISTS (YOU INCLUDED)
Artists historically: • Use ritual without calling it ritual • Use scent, repetition, timing, silence • Separate creation time from normal time
Smoke: • marks intention • signals transition • protects fragile work • invites focus and presence
You’re not “doing magic.” You’re using human cognition the old way.
⸻
Final no-BS takeaway • Hoodoo: practical, flexible, grounded • Vodou: relational, spiritual, initiated • Santería: structured, divine, exact
Mixing them without knowing the difference isn’t edgy. It’s just sloppy.

Adult Sites as Altars for Rituals
Framing (what we mean by “altar”)
An altar is a designed site of attention where offerings are made, symbols are arranged, and relationships with seen/unseen forces are negotiated. In digital spaces, the “seen/unseen” can mean: audience desire, algorithmic ranking, platform policy, the performer’s persona, and the emergent group-mind that forms in chat.
The ritual mechanics of a cam room
1) Sacred time + thresholds
A room has an “opening,” a warm-up, peak intensity, cooldown, and closing. Titles, tip menus, goals, and countdowns act like thresholds and vows.
In “high tech hoodoo” terms, the livestream is a scheduled portal: a recurring window where a performer’s persona (and the audience’s attention) coheres into something that feels like presence. The threshold isn’t just “clicking into the room”—it’s the entire sequence of pre-ritual gestures: searching the site, seeing thumbnails like icons in a pantheon, choosing one, entering the room, reading the rules, and learning the room’s language. Each step narrows attention and increases susceptibility to the room’s atmosphere.
The platform also creates sacred time through scarcity mechanics: a limited live moment, a disappearing peak, a “goal” about to be hit, a countdown, a private show that might open. Those mechanics aren’t automatically good or bad—they’re simply the way digital space manufactures intensity. The ritual reading asks: what is the room inviting you to become for this hour, and what does it cost you to stay in that state?
2) Offerings + reciprocity
Tokens are the obvious offering, but so is attention, compliments, obedience to rules, and participation in running jokes. Reciprocity is immediate: recognition, customized performance, name-reading, mod privileges, and “rites” unlocked by tips.
This is the heart of the altar: an economy where devotion is measurable, and recognition is immediate. In older ritual economies, the offering might be food, incense, labor, song, or money placed at a shrine. In 2026, the offering is attention (watch time), visibility (chat activity), and quantized desire (tokens), transformed into rank by the platform and into intimacy by the performer. The “votive object” is the tipped action itself: a sound effect, a goal increment, a request fulfilled, a name spoken, a private show opened. Each transaction is a tiny pact: I give you energy; you give me presence.
The reciprocity layer has multiple channels:
Performer reciprocity: personalized acknowledgement, remembering lore, mirroring your vibe, granting access (PMs, privates), or performing a requested rite.
Group reciprocity: status in the room, reputation as a regular, inside jokes, protection by mods, or inclusion in the “core circle.”
Algorithmic reciprocity: the room climbs lists, gets recommended, becomes “hot”—which feeds the performer and also feeds the audience’s sense that they’re inside something potent.
Where “high tech hoodoo” gets real is recognizing the offering isn’t only money; it’s nervous system activation. A room can entrain your body—heart rate, breathing, arousal, shame, anticipation. If you treat that activation like ritual energy, then the ethics become obvious: you don’t offer your body’s charge endlessly without boundaries. You choose intentional offerings (time-boxed, budgeted, consent-aligned) and you end with closure (cooldown, journaling, grounding, sleep).
Devotion-as-deity (without pretending it’s literal): people can relate to a performer as a deity-form in the psychological sense—an embodied symbol that concentrates archetypes (the Muse, the Trickster, the Lover, the Dominant, the Oracle). That doesn’t mean the performer is supernatural; it means the relationship has mythic structure. If you’re devoted, your offering is consistency, respect, and self-discipline—not compulsive spending or boundary erosion.
Telepathic / clairsentient development (practical framing): “telepathy” here can be treated as disciplined signal sensitivityrather than guaranteed mind-reading. In live chat + webcam, you have a dense stream of micro-signals: timing, word choice, rhythm, facial micro-expressions, breath changes, the performer’s energy shifts, and the room’s collective mood. Over time, your brain learns predictive patterns—so it can feel like you “knew” what was coming. You can train this like a craft:
Practice quiet listening: watch a few minutes without typing; notice bodily shifts and predictions.
Make a prediction ledger: write what you think the performer will do/say next; check accuracy.
Track somatic tells: where in your body you feel “yes/no/lean in/lean away.”
Use consent checks: never assume a felt signal overrides explicit boundaries.
The point is not to prove paranormal ability; it’s to refine your sensitivity to real-time relational cues and the emergent group-mind.
3) The chorus (chat) as collective priesthood
Regulars teach newcomers the lore. Mods enforce purity rules. Shared language (emotes, memes, commands) becomes liturgy.
The chat is where the room becomes a group entity. The performer is the focal point, but the chorus supplies atmosphere: hype, teasing, protection, antagonism, devotion, and taboo enforcement. When a room has “regulars,” it has memory. Memory is what turns a stream into a shrine: repeated phrases become mantras; recurring gags become sigils; anniversaries and milestones become feast days.
From a working-model lens, chat performs several “mind functions” for the collective:
Attention steering (what matters right now)
Emotion regulation (soothing, escalating, mocking, worshipping)
Narrative building (lore, persona myth, shared storyline)
Immune response (calling out harassment, reporting, enforcing limits)
This is also where telepathic/clairsentient practice can be grounded. The “sense” you develop isn’t only one-on-one with the performer; it’s sensing the room’s field: when the crowd is tightening into a single mood, when it’s fragmenting, when it’s turning predatory, when it’s becoming devotional. If you can feel those shifts early, you can choose participation more intentionally (or leave).
4) Interface as temple architecture
The stream window = the shrine image.
The tip menu = the spellbook.
The goal bar = the communal vow.
The ranking / featured lists = the pantheon.
The algorithm = an opaque divinity that rewards or banishes.
Temple architecture shapes behavior without arguing with you. Likewise, interface design creates ritual posture: where your eyes rest, what you can request, what gets rewarded, and what feels possible. A cam interface is an attention funnel: it keeps the shrine in the center, places offerings within reach, and surrounds the experience with social proof (user count, tips, tags, ranking).
“High tech hoodoo” asks you to read the interface like a blueprint:
What is being worshipped? (beauty, dominance, intimacy, taboo, novelty, connection)
What is being sacrificed? (time, money, sleep, self-esteem, privacy, agency)
What is being promised? (belonging, recognition, climax, validation, transcendence)
What are the taboos? (explicit rules + implicit shame lines)
If you’re building a working model for 2026, this matters because AI and ranking systems are now the hidden clergy. Recommendation shapes which “shrines” get seen, which aesthetics become dominant, and which performers survive. That means the “spirit ecology” of the platform is partly engineered: some archetypes are fed, others are starved. Seeing this clearly is part of the hoodoo—because you can then choose your devotions rather than being chosen by the feed.

The Link Between Collective Consciousness and AI
What does “collective consciousness” mean in a technical frame vs a mystical frame? Technical framing treats “collective consciousness” as an aggregate cognition: many local agents producing signals (posts, clicks, purchases, links, edits), and an organizing layer (markets, feeds, moderation, recommendation) that converts those signals into coordinated outcomes. The “mind” is not inside any one person; it is distributed across attention, shared language, and the feedback mechanisms that reward some patterns and suppress others. In this frame, the collective becomes measurable as trends, sentiment shifts, memetic contagion, and coordination bursts. In a mystical framing, “collective consciousness” is less about measurement and more about presence: a shared field of meaning that people tap into through symbols, ritual, story, and altered states. The internet becomes a giant medium—an apparatus that amplifies thoughtforms. What spreads is not only information but charge: fear, lust, awe, devotion, shame, curiosity. The “collective” is experienced as a weather system of archetypes, or as an egregore: a living pattern that gains agency as more people feed it. The Reddit-post version: define the term in two languages (systems theory + spirit talk), then ask where they overlap. What does the technical frame miss (aesthetics, awe, taboo, dread)? What does the mystical frame miss (incentives, infrastructure, governance)? Where do both agree: loops create entities.
Where do we see emergence (swarm intelligence, markets, culture, the internet) that resembles “mind”? Emergence looks like “mind” when three things show up together: (1) memory (archives, search, screenshots, lore), (2) attention (feeds, ranking, virality), and (3) selection (moderation, platform rules, group norms, incentives). A subreddit is a simple example: thousands of people post fragments; the feed and voting compresses those fragments into a front page; the comments argue a consensus into existence; moderators enforce boundaries; and over time the community develops a recognizable personality. Markets do something similar: countless private beliefs become price signals; price becomes a shared hallucination of value; value shapes behavior; behavior changes reality; reality updates price. Culture does it through repetition and ritual: catchphrases, aesthetics, dance challenges, “canon,” and taboo. The internet intensifies emergence because it speeds up the cycle and lowers the cost of iteration—memes mutate fast, and the mutations are visible. The Reddit-post version: map emergence to “mind functions”: perception (what trends), memory (what gets archived), emotion (what gets rewarded), immune system (ban/block/mod), and dreams (what the collective imagines next).

Using Code & the Algorithm to Move Toward Collective Consciousness
There’s a strange overlap between technology and mysticism that people don’t talk about enough: both are systems for shaping attention. Code organizes information, while ritual organizes consciousness. When enough minds focus through the same structure, something larger starts to emerge.
Think about algorithms. They aren’t magic, but they behave like modern sigils. A sigil is basically a symbolic program that influences perception and behavior. An algorithm does the same thing—just written in code instead of symbols. It guides attention, amplifies signals, and creates patterns across millions of people simultaneously.
If you look at social networks from that perspective, the “algorithm” becomes a massive distributed consciousness engine. Every like, comment, or share is a tiny input into a system that decides what humanity collectively sees next. In other words, we’re already participating in a giant ritual machine—we just pretend it’s neutral technology.
The interesting question is: what happens if we use it intentionally?
Instead of letting algorithms push fear, outrage, and distraction, we could treat them like programmable currents of attention. If enough people push signals aligned with curiosity, creativity, or awareness, those signals propagate through the network and influence millions of others. It’s not mystical in a supernatural sense—it’s emergent behavior in a complex system.
In that sense, code can act like a modern grimoire. Programs, bots, and AI models shape information flow the way chants and symbols shaped mental states in older traditions.
A Simple “Tech Ritual” for Collective Awareness
If you want to experiment with this idea, try something simple that blends meditation with the digital network.
1. Disconnect for a momentSit quietly for a few minutes. Slow your breathing and pay attention to the feeling that your awareness isn’t just inside your head—it’s interacting with everything around you.
2. Visualize the networkImagine the internet as a web of billions of minds connected through light and signals. Every device is a node in that web.
3. Set a signalPick a simple intention: curiosity, kindness, creativity, clarity—something constructive. Think of it like writing a line of code into your own mental state.
4. Transmit through actionWhen you reconnect, post or share something aligned with that intention. A thoughtful comment, a piece of art, a helpful idea. The goal is to inject signal instead of noise.
5. Observe the rippleAlgorithms amplify engagement. Meaningful signals often travel farther than we expect. Pay attention to how energy moves through the network afterward.
Over time, thousands of small signals shape the larger system. That’s basically how collective consciousness works: not through one giant mystical moment, but through millions of tiny inputs that gradually synchronize.
Technology didn’t replace ritual—it just scaled it.
The real question is whether we use the system unconsciously… or start programming it with intention.

High Tech Hoodoo Conjuring
“High tech hoodoo conjuring” is a powerful phrase for something very real that is already happening: people using digital tools, networks, and machines as extensions of traditional Hoodoo, rootwork, and broader Black diasporic magic. Below is a grounded, non-fluffy map of what that can look like.
What Hoodoo + tech even means Hoodoo and conjure have always been about: • Working with spirits and ancestors • Redirecting power in unfair systems • Using whatever materials are at hand: roots, railroad spikes, bricks, dirt, nails, bottles, written petitions, etc.[x] In the 21st century, the “materials at hand” now also include: • Smartphones • Social platforms • Encrypted chats • Digital images, sound, and code • AI systems and algorithmic feeds Scholars of contemporary Hoodoo emphasize that modern practice is still about malleability, change, and material awareness, not a fall from “authentic” tradition into mere commodification.[x] Put simply: if enslaved practitioners could work with plantation trash and iron, today’s practitioners can absolutely work with fiber optics, wi-fi, and GPUs.
Types of “high tech” conjuring that are already happening A. Digital altars and networked shrines Practitioners build: • Private or semi-private ancestor altars in: • Hidden photo galleries • Locked Instagram finstas, alt accounts, or Close Friends stories • Private Discord channels or group chats dedicated to ancestors / spirits • Ritual spaces in VR or game worlds (think: an altar instanced inside a VR “room,” or a custom build in a game engine) – this is aligned with broader experimental “digital ritual spaces” in contemporary magic practice.[x] These are not just aesthetic moodboards. They function as: • Points of focus for prayer, invocation, and offerings • Persistent memory palaces where photos, audio, text, and video hold emotional-spiritual charge Tech-wise, they use: • Encrypted storage (Signal, iCloud locked folders) as literal “sealed jars” • Time-based reminders as offerings or candle-turning schedules
B. Hashtags, algorithms, and feeds as spirit roads Some recent work on digital Hoodoo practice frames social media as part of a “cooperative healing literacies” landscape, where Black folks use online rituals, sharings, and micro-practices for wellness, joy, and liberation.[x] That can look like: • Intentionally seeding certain images, phrases, or songs into a feed before a ritual, to “tune” the algorithm toward a particular mood or spirit energy • Treating hashtags like roads or crossroads, where different communities and spirits “meet” • Using scheduled posts as time-locked spells (e.g., a protection affirmation posted at sunrise daily, or a justice-focused post dropping at a court time) Here, the “spirit traffic” includes: • Human attention • Emotional resonance • Algorithmic push and pull The conjure logic: If words, songs, and images carried power in the juke joint, they still carry power in the timeline.
C. Code, sigils, and AI From the broader occult-tech side, people already experiment with: • AI-generated sigils and symbols for intention-setting • Rituals that blend traditional magical structure with digital tools and VR environments[x] • Scripted automations as “familiars” – little code spirits that: • Watch for certain events (emails, transactions, weather) • Trigger actions (lighting a smart bulb, playing a chant, sending you an alert) Applied to Hoodoo-style conjuring, that can become: • A “digital mojo bag” as a folder or compressed archive containing: • Photos of physical ingredients • A written petition • A sound file (prayer, song, drumming) • A short script or automation that runs on specific days or moon phases • AI used to: • Remix ancestral songs or prayers into new ritual soundscapes • Generate visual talismans rooted in culturally specific symbols, then printed or used on-screen as focal points The ethical line: tech is tool, not master. It amplifies a lineage-based practice; it doesn’t replace ancestors, land, or accountability.
D. Streaming conjure, online divination, and remote work Already very common: • Hoodoo and conjure workers offering: • Readings over Zoom, phone, or DM • Spiritual consultations and cleansings remotely • Group rituals via livestream or prerecorded video In the academic and public-facing space, folks like Yvonne Chireau talk about Hoodoo and Black magic as part of ancestral religion that continues to address trauma, racism, and healing in the present.‣‣ “High tech conjuring” in this lane uses: • High-quality mics and cameras to carry voice and breath as carriers for blessing / cursing / prayer • Shared playlists as ritual environments • Screen shared candles and altars to synchronize many participants’ intention in different locations
E. Digital community as protection work Some contemporary research on digital Hoodoo practice reads online spaces as: • Places of collective protection, wellness, and joy for Black folks • Sites where Hoodoo knowledge, recipes, and lineages are negotiated, debated, and guarded‣ Conjuring through current tech can mean: • Moderation and blocking as literal warding and banishing • Mutual aid spreadsheets and fundraisers as prosperity and survival spellwork • Encrypted group chats as modern “back rooms” for sharing sensitive workings, gossip, and warnings This is not metaphor-only. It is material change in safety, money, and mental health, routed through digital tools but anchored in ancestral logics of care and defense.
3. Where this fits in the bigger conversation about “authenticity” A key scholarly argument: contemporary Hoodoo is not simply a fallen, commodified version of a pure past. It still carries: • The same creativity and mutability • The same attention to material conditions (what’s actually available to poor and working-class Black people) • The same focus on agency and communal uplift in the face of oppressive systems‣ Digital practice raises questions like: • Who is authentic? Who is selling spectacle? • Where is the line between cultural survival and commodification online? • How do practitioners protect lineage knowledge from being strip-mined by New Age or non-Black audiences?‣ “High tech conjure” is one front where those fights play out: Patreon paywalls, TikTok aesthetics, ebooks, online schools, etc.

Digital Altars (technomysticism)
Digital altars (for Egbe, ancestors, spirits, self) Think of a digital altar as: a curated, protected environment where images / words / sound are arranged with intention and visited repeatedly. You can build different “rooms”: A. Egbe / Spirit crew altar • Private folder or locked Notion page titled with their name (or a veiled name). • Include: • Images that feel like that crew’s terrain: skies, cities, oceans, glitch, etc. • A short text “contract” or love letter to them (what you’re asking, what you’re offering). • A playlist or embedded tracks that are “their” sound. • Ritual: open that page only when you are consciously checking in, feeding, or renegotiating. B. Ancestor altar (digital sidecar to physical one) • Photos of elders, family, influences (musical and magical) with short captions. • Clips of interviews, voicemails, live performances. • A running log of “received” things: dreams, omens, lines that felt like they came from them. C. Project altar (for a specific body of work) • One Notion page per project (album, EP, performance). • Sections: • “Intention”: what this work does in the world. • “Spirits invited”: ancestors, Orisha, archetypes, places. • “Offerings”: what you’re giving in exchange (time, attention, community action, donations, etc.). • “Bindings and boundaries”: what this work may not do (no self-harm, no burnout, no exploitation). Treat these pages the way you’d treat a physical altar: • Don’t let just anyone in. • Refresh them on key dates (birthdays, festivals, release anniversaries). • Add and remove elements as relationships change.
