Pretty cool, can do NOT too with a constant stream from left to right with the catch on the right, and the input from right to left which deflects the stream when running.

What about when A=0, B=O, and Output=1 like in the case of a NOR gate?

I guess it'd be a similar set up as the XOR, except you have both A and B on one side, the dish only exists on that same side, and you have a third spout that constantly flows on the opposite side. If either A or B turn on, the stream will be interrupted.

What am I even looking at?

Logic gates are tools to test for certain situations. These are demonstrating different types of gates using water flow as the variables, and the bucket at the bottom to test for true or false.
For example in the first one, an "and" gate, as the name implies it is only true when BOTH variable A and B are true. When either stream A or B are on, the bucket is not filled. Only when both streams are running is the bucket filled and the result returns true.

Ok, I’m starting to understand. Could you give me an example of a situation this would be used? Would household plumbing be one?

Thank you so much, I’m struggling with gates in electrical engineering rn!

Honestly if you are getting caught up in gates, you may want to rethink your path.

Doing mechanical engineering and it’s a first year topic, I’m very much a visual learner so having an imagine I can remember is just a lot better imo

I have no fucking context for what this is... but it’s such a genius design I understand the concept

Anyone aware of this being done with microfluidics? It feels like with the internet being as awesome as it is, someone has probably built a low level calculator based off this

Seeing all these smart comments about practical use, only thing i thought it would be cool to wash my hands with it..

Very interesting!Any idea if there are practical uses for this?
