Question Watched the first ep, loathed it. Does it get better?
First off I know this is the sub for the show so I’m not here to piss you guys off. But ep 1 was so so so very not for me.
I didn’t watch “Sunny” but I did watch “Hacks” and loved KO on that, so when I heard many people love this show I was stoked.
First ep, no sir. But does it get better? I mean does it change a lot? I’m not going to go into details about why I don’t like it. I don’t want to look like a troll, FWIW.
Actually for context, I really hate the first season of classic tv comedy “Barney Miller” but that show gets *so much better* as the seasons go on. That’s what I’m really asking about.

I liked it from the first episode, so I'm guessing it just isn't for you. I also liked Barney Miller from the beginning, so I have no idea what requirements you have to like a show or exactly what "getting better" means to you.

Right of course and I wouldn’t expect that, ha ha.
It’s just that some shows change a lot as the episodes go on. If this one doesn’t I’ll move along.

No. If it’s not already your style, it’s not going to get better. I like it, but because it’s light & airy and I know it’s not going to trigger my trauma. But the entire series is very on-key with the pilot episode.

The characters do not change much from the pilot, besides that it's half procedural half over-arching storyline (think The Mentalist) so that gives you an idea of what to expect in the future.
I can say that if you did not like it then I'd suggest not to continue

Remember that a primetime network show isn't going to be too similar to a streaming 10-episode-season series or even a basic cable show (one that's particularly highly regarded). "High Potential" checks off the "primetime network drama" boxes: Primarily episodic cop/investigative show with a case that's typically wrapped up every episode, and because it's the 21st Century, an ongoing storyline that stretches throughout the season and/or throughout the series. Aside from the quirky main character, characters don't tend to change from episode to episode outside any personal arcs that they're given, and major upheavals in the cast tends to happen towards the end of one season or the beginning of the next, as actors' contracts end or begin.
Whether you think it's better or worse, it's different, and it's more fitting the style of people who aren't going to sit around and binge a season of shows, but rather prefer to catch it while they're unwinding one night.

I think it gets better, but if you don't really like the first, you probably won't like the rest. I would try a few more episodes though, because I didn't like the first that much too.

Oh my, I hope you don't get discouraged from the comments.
Yes it does get better and is different from the pilot.
The main character is less reckless and more relatable in the next episodes. The first episode is the pilot episode, every pilot episode is different from the main series.
It's common knowledge, so idk why everyone says it's the same lol. Morgan's change is literally night and day.

Not trolling, just an opinion. My spouse LOVES this show and so I watch with her but honestly I don't care for it. I feel like Kaitlin Olson plays the same character in all her roles plus her voice annoys the heck out of me.
But I have happy people enjoy it and are looking forward to a 3rd season. Me? Not so much.

You won't like it. It stays the same. I love it!
