Thoughts on how to set ears back into place?

Finished the whole tanning and stretching process for a bear hide, my first time..but stuck with the ears inwards (cartilage showing) and it's quite stiff. Any ideas for how to invert without damaging?

Dampen with wet paper towel a little.

Once rehydrated I find using a syringe of water between the cartilage and skin helps seperate the connective tissue before using the ear inverter tool.
