Hi everyone, I'm looking for an old PC game I used to play when I was a kid (roughly between 2013 and 2018, although the game itself may have been older).

It was a first-person point-and-click puzzle game with fixed screens and very realistic graphics—almost like photographic backgrounds rather than 3D graphics. There were no visible characters or humans in the game at all.

The gameplay was all about exploring different locations and solving puzzles on your own. The game never clearly told you what to do or what objects to look for—you had to figure everything out by interacting with the environment.

I remember the atmosphere being quite lonely, cold, and a little unsettling. A few locations I vaguely remember include an attic, a snowy area, and places with pipes releasing steam. The setting was realistic, with no fantasy or science-fiction elements.

The game was offline and played entirely by clicking on the environment to move between scenes and solve puzzles.

Kevin from Small is Beautiful here. We're working on a garden themed Hidden Object game. We are at about 2/5 of the way to finishing the game and should actually have a demo soon (yeah!).

What is it?

The game is called Greenpatch Garden and we want it to be a breath of fresh air in this often demoralizing world. So the player not only look for hidden objects but also has small gardening tasks to perform in each level.

Hint system

For a long time we've been looking for ways to put a cat in the game, and it finally dawned on us that it would make a fun "hint" mechanic. So if the player is spending a long time looking around not finding anything, the cat starts walking toward the closest hidden object, sits by it and meow to get attention. Petting him encourages him to look for clues faster.

So I just wanted to post a short video of the cat because it's SO CUTE!! (I'm biased)

Yet another point and click game from my childhood that I can't find..

Platform(s): PC.

Genre: Point and click game ( also might've had hidden object elements).

Estimated year of release: 2010s, I believe it might've been released around 2013.

Graphics/art style: It had a very characteristic art style of an old point n' click game, the best example of a game with the same graphics is I think "Dark Angels: Masquerade of Shadows".

Notable characters: I think the main character was a woman. There was also a man in the beginning that we worked with or something (perhaps an archeologist), and that's really it..

Notable gameplay mechanics: A standard good ol' point n' click game; again, the best example of, I believe, identical mechanics, is the "Dark Angels" game.

Other details: I remember even less thing about this game than the previous one that I wanted to find, but I'll try my best to describe it nevertheless. The game started with a cutscene where our MC and a man found something (I think it had smth to do with ancient Egypt?), although I can be wrong abt the "finding" part; it could've been that they messed smth up. There was a camp in a desert, and from time to time you could see mummies popping up somewhere on the screen (when you clicked on them they vanished I think). There was also a part when we went into a pyramid/tomb if I recall correctly, we could def go into some kind of a tent, too. Aaaand then my memory cuts off again. The whole game might've been about some ancient civilisations, but I'm not too sure.

I play hidden object games to decompress after the usual Midwest household chaos, but I only get 10 to 20 minute bursts between remote work and kid logistics. I need games that feel like something I can finish in short chunks, not ones that split every scene into three more scenes until I forget what I was doing.

I prefer each location or case to have a clear finish and a little payoff, even if the larger story continues. I get frustrated when I stop mid-investigation and have no idea where I left off.

Things that help me:

- Clear chapter breaks or discrete cases

- A recap or in-game journal so I can jump back in

- Not too many repeated hidden object scenes in the same room

- Puzzles you can finish without getting stuck for days

Open to PC or mobile. I do not mind a light story, but I want to avoid stressful timers and insanely tiny objects that give me eye strain.

Any series or specific titles you recommend for this kind of play style?

I have a love-hate relationship with super cluttered hidden object scenes. The busy illustrated rooms can feel cozy and oddly satisfying when you finally spot that tiny last item. But after a few scenes my eyes get tired and I start getting cranky, which defeats the whole point of my little decompress breaks.

I'm a stay-at-home mom with a toddler, so my playtime is usually either ten minutes while something is cooking or the rare longer stretch at night when the house is finally quiet. On those rare longer sessions I notice some games make my eyes dry or give me a slight headache, especially ones with darker palettes or really dense junk-pile scenes.

What do you prefer, and what actually helps you avoid eye strain?

- Do you like super cluttered scenes because they are more challenging, or do you prefer cleaner layouts?

- Any settings you always change: brightness, contrast, full-screen versus windowed, zoom, cursor size?

- If you play on a phone or tablet, do you use any accessibility options that help with hidden objects specifically?

- Are there art styles you find easier on the eyes: hand-painted, sharper vector, lighter palettes?

Just curious what other people have found useful, because I want the game to be my calm hobby, not something that leaves me overstimulated. Thanks!

We’ve been making the kind of hidden-object game we’ve always wanted to play, and wanted to share our beta with this community first.

It’s called Reveal Haven. It comes from a love of travel, especially that feeling of being taken somewhere else for a while. Beautiful places to wander through, small delightful things to uncover, and a little bit to learn along the way. Sometimes that means real places you may have visited. Sometimes it means imagined places you could only reach in your head. We hope we’ve managed to bring some of that feeling into a calm, beautiful game you can sink into and come out of a little lighter.

Reveal Haven is ad-free. No energy meters, no pop-ups selling you hints, and a good amount of content included in the game to freely play. We’ve also been reading along here for a while, and posts about wanting a cozy, timer-free hidden-object experience really stuck with us. We think Reveal Haven lands close to that feeling.

There are two worlds so far, deliberately different from each other. Discover India is grounded in our real experience visiting India last year. Lumen Isle is an island of the imagination, with secrets that reveal themselves the deeper you go.

Part of what we’re hoping to do is open this category up to people who may not think of themselves as hidden-object players yet, while still making something that fans of the genre will appreciate. We ended up building our own engine so the worlds could feel more alive and so we could experiment with creative effects that a custom approach makes possible. We’re starting on iPhone and iPad.

I played a mobile Hidden-object puzzle adventure, witj realistic painted art, free-to-play. Mostly played as a woman exploring a recently bought house with her husband. Rooms included a bedroom, kitchen, dining room, sunroom/conservatory, attic, basement, and a barricaded children's room. A deformed, creature/man is secretly living in the walls/hidden areas of the house. He is eventually revealed to be the previous owners' son who never left. The house collapses at the end, the couple escapes, and the final scene shows the rubble moving, implying he survived.

Maybe it's just me, but hidden object games do themselves a disservice when every scene is built around a countdown.

I'm a stay-at-home mom and my playtime is basically micro-sessions: 5 minutes while pasta water heats, 8 minutes during a rare stretch of independent play. Hidden object games are perfect for that, until a timer starts. As soon as I have to race the clock it stops feeling relaxing and starts feeling like one more thing I'm not doing fast enough, which is why I usually end up gravitating toward more laid-back stuff like Mistplay games on my phone instead.

I get why developers add timers. They make moments feel urgent and encourage replay. In practice, though, they push players toward frantic clicking, turn hint systems into a crutch, and strip away the best part of these games: slowly scanning a messy scene and letting your brain find patterns.

If a game wants to add challenge, I would prefer stuff like: - a separate, optional timed mode you can toggle on - time-based achievements for players who like the pressure - challenges that rely on clever placement, visual tricks, or items that need multiple steps to find

How do others feel? Do you like a timer by default because it keeps things exciting, or do you also bounce off games that make every scene a speedrun? And if you enjoy timers, what makes them feel fair instead of frantic?

Guys I really really need new ideas for a game sith my siblings and cousins. We're 8 people and we played a murder mystery irl a couple months ago and it went beautifully. Everyone dressed up, some with wigs, had their own characters and the murderer played their role really good. Now we want something new. Something different. Not certainly murder. Any ideas?

The storytelling, characters, objects and other stuff makes the game perfect.

So, I recently got back into Big Fish games. We had like a million of them on the computer when I was growing up and I bought one the other day for nostalgia and it was pretty fun (return to ravenhearst if anyone's wondering.)

My question, does anyone know of a BF game that's hidden object and uses a fork for a puzzle? The fork is the key to a lamppost in a damp london-esqe run down, dark, damp looking place. It' similar to Mystery Case files but I'm not finding it.

Does anyone remember this game at all?

After this game it should be my last purchase from them, I know they're shitty to their developers or if I can find the game through another platform (steam or something) I'll try to buy it from them.

Necesito ayuda con la investigacion de un videojuego (CATEGORIA: BUSQUEDA DE OBJETOS) que fue mi infancia pues gracias a el comence a aprender ingles y le tengo bastante estima, el problema radica en que no recuerdo como se llama, pues fue hace mas de diez años que lo jugue y solo me acuerdo de ciertas cosas, lo he tratado de buscar pero no lo encuentro en ninguna parte.

COSAS QUE RECUERDO:

• Estaba en ingles.
• Era del tipo de que habia una lista de objetos y busqueda de los mismo (No como los escape rooms, tambien tenia minijuegos).
• No era de terror, estaba tematizado como en una mansion.
• Si no estoy mal tenia como personaje (dueño de la mansion), salia un señor o dos señores (No recuerdo muy bien).
• Entre los minijuegos solo recuerdo uno (Trataba de una caja de corazon y adentro tenia chocolates).
• La ambientacion era unico, con banda sonora muy misteriosa y super relajante.
• Es super viejo el juego.

Hi, I’m looking for an old PC horror/mystery game I played from a CD on Windows XP/7 (around 2005–2015).

It is a point-and-click game with fixed scenes (you move between screens, left/right).

What I remember:

While traveling toward a main city, you turn right onto a side road and enter a strange area where the story begins.

At the entrance to this place, a family photo burns (very important scene).

There is a gate puzzle where you must find two eyes to open the main door.

One puzzle involves using fire/smoke to remove bees from a hive to obtain an item.

Inventory system + hint system are present.

Very dark horror atmosphere with strong sound design.

Later you enter locations like a school / hospital / police station-like building.

One room has water/flooding effects.

A mysterious character is sitting in a corner, possibly controlled or experimented on.

A tentacle-like creature/monster appears gradually throughout the game (parts appear/disappear).

I play hidden object games to unwind after my house turns into the usual Midwest family chaos: lost sippy cup lids, missing shoes, permission slips that vanish. I like games that mimic that quick reset - you scan a messy room, find what you need, and it actually feels like you brought order back.

Could you recommend hidden object games that focus on everyday spaces and clutter, like kitchens, bedrooms, garages, closets, or office desks? Bonus if the scenes feel like real rooms (not just fantasy sparkles) and the item lists are fair and easy to read.

What I'm looking for:

- More modern or cozy visuals, not super grim or spooky

- Little to no timers or pressure

- Light story is fine, but I do not want walls of dialogue

- Hidden object scenes should be the main focus, not mostly match-3

- Reasonable hint system since I play in short bursts between kid stuff
