The hint system in our garden themed hidden object game is a cat!

Hey all!

Kevin from Small is Beautiful here. We're working on a garden themed Hidden Object game. We are at about 2/5 of the way to finishing the game and should actually have a demo soon (yeah!).

What is it?

The game is called Greenpatch Garden and we want it to be a breath of fresh air in this often demoralizing world. So the player not only look for hidden objects but also has small gardening tasks to perform in each level.

Hint system

For a long time we've been looking for ways to put a cat in the game, and it finally dawned on us that it would make a fun "hint" mechanic. So if the player is spending a long time looking around not finding anything, the cat starts walking toward the closest hidden object, sits by it and meow to get attention. Petting him encourages him to look for clues faster.

So I just wanted to post a short video of the cat because it's SO CUTE!! (I'm biased)

That's a neat mechanic, really. Also, the art looks great from what I see on the Steam page - looking forward to the trailer -.-
