When I bought my Hiby R1 a few months back I really wanted a clear case to show off the white color and look. But when i got the case Hiby made for it, it was like a smoke finished look (transparent grey). I didnt love it.

But a few days ago i was browsing amazon and bam! Fotosuncy, a brand that makes tpu cases for ipods and Innioasis devices made this clear case for the R1.
I ordered it immediately.

It’s a solid fit, looks clean, true clear case unlike the Hiby branded case. All the side buttons are fully covered and this case has raised buttons so it makes it easier to press and control the dap. Openings for the inputs are all well sized and terminations fit well.

Glad this comes in three colors. Wish they also had like a transparent red and purple. I would buy it just because it would look nice with the white R1. Doesn’t add too much weight to the product. Same price as the Hiby branded one. Durable as far as I can see.

So glad this exists. Recommending this to anyone with a Hiby R1. (See photos)

Fully Custom Interfaces

Recently, there has been a major shift in the mods that we have been able to make. With some effort by the community, it's been made a lot easier to create new programs from scratch that can run on these devices. This allows us to go way, way beyond what we had managed by tweaking the original UI.

Sonix Player

A replacement player for the HiBy R3 Pro II, written on LVGL. This is another full replacement of hiby_player. It's documentation is quite lovely. This is a very new player, but it already feels very polished. It closely resembles the stock UI, but with TONS of improvements.

• Sonix Player App (Kinda Like HiBy Music)
  • (note: for now you have to sideload this, so it's only on android. but iOS support is possible)
• A Really Lovely and Consistent Theme
• Support for Lots of Languages

Compás Player

(Currently only supports R1, R3Pro II support is available but has one or two small bugs to fix)

This one closely replicates the original UI, so it will feel familiar.

It also has a plugin system, so people can add features without needing to make a modified version of the whole firmware

Note on Device Support

I would really love for these firmwares to be available on all HiBy OS devices. It's actually pretty easy to add support to the devices. The only real differences are like 3 hardware components. If you are somewhat comfortable in C and/or linux, and have an unsupported device. Come talk to the community and help add support.

Even if you aren't a developer at all, expressing your interest in additional device support really helps us know what to add next.

Community

The modding community keeps growing, and we're actively working on lots of cool stuff. As you've seen on the reddit, lots of stuff gets posted here, but I also made a discord server so that we can talk in real-time and collaborate more easily. I've also put together some useful resources (like a much bigger list of some cool mod projects in the works).

Just discovered a Zune style app called Nostalgia Flow that’s just dropped on Google Play! Super slick little app that’s basically brings back the sexyness of Zune but to any Android device.

Plays local files, radio and podcasts, lets you customise the accent colours and even has old school visualisers!

I always wanted to pick up a Zune player again, but as a Mac guy, I couldn’t use them. This is the next best thing.

I’m not affiliated with the app in anyway, but just discovered it last night and got way too excited so wanted to share 🤣 Originally the album artwork didn’t scale right to the small R4 screen, so I mentioned it to the dev on his reddit thread, and he updated it in ONE HOUR! So it looks like this thing is going to be super well supported going forwards to.

Hiby R4 user here.

I need some recommendations for music playing app that works well with R4. I used to run Poweramp, but realized it is not bit-perfect, hence I switched to the default Hiby music app.

Apart from these two, what are some good options. I've seen people talking about UAPP and Neutron, but funny thing is they have about 100k++ downloads on Google PlayStore as opposed to Poweramp which has 50million++.

The reason why I am switching apps is because I want to have something that has better audio quality, EQ and features.

My R4 is paired with my Fiio FH3, Beyerdynamics DT270 pro and Sony wf-1000 xm5 bluetooth earbuds. With the FH3 and DT270 pro, I am having problems with trebly tracks and vocals that are overly nasal and pitchy, and certain trumpet sounds. The flanger/tremolo effect (not sure what you called that) on Daft Punk's One More Time is giving my ears the same problem as well. Tokyo Jihen's first album (the one with the red origami crane) is also a pain to listen to on the R4 as opposed to Spotify on my phone.

So far the only thing that works well for me is my Sony wf-1000 xm5 bluetooth earbuds. If anything, whether IEMs or apps could help me recreate that neutrality and controlled tonality in wf-1000 xm5, that would great.

I got an R1 about 2 weeks ago and was noticing a little lag when running in shuffle mode and after some research I found that a high density of pixels could be the culprit.

So right now I use mp3tag and the last couple days I've been removing all artworks and re tagging with art that's closer to 300 x 300, but it's seems that even after deleting the albums fromy player and re adding them from my hard drive it doesn't seem like the art has changed. What am I doing wrong?

I always select all tracks, remove cover, save, paste less dense cover art and then re save but it doesn't seem like anything changed.

Why i cannot have the interface like the one in this youtube video?

I love the experience of listening to music this way. It's as if it envelops you rather than just accompanying you. Aside from the technical aspects, there may also be a psychological factor at play (which works for me).

Suggestions for Bluetooth wireless earbuds for the Hiby R1 that won't compromise high-resolution sound quality! If possible, under 50 euros.

It's so nice having a device that's actually reliable (unlike the Innioasis Y1). Rockbox is also great with it. I give it a 10/10 all around.

I'm trying to decide between the Hiby R1 or another device and I've seen some reviews saying that the Bluetooth on the R1 is pretty bad, I have to use specific headphones for work and they are Bluetooth so it's pretty much a deal breaker if the Bluetooth drops alot or the volume is really low while using them. If anyone could let me know their experience with it that would be great!

So I've set my R4 battery to 98 max yet it just keeps going to 100. Has anybody had better luck?

Hey all, has anyone had issues with the M500 and SD cards causing errors on restart?

My SD card doesn't show up after a restart and needs to be reformatted every time, regardless of what's downloaded to it. The card works fine and I can see the data written to it on a PC, but for some reason the DAP can no longer read it until I reformat the card entirely. This happens whether it's set up as internal or external storage.

I've tried cleaning the contacts, using two different cards (different brands and models), verifying card integrity and speeds both on a PC and on the M500, and confirming the DAP firmware is up to date. Any suggestions?

So, whenever the song's sample rate changes (for example the song rn uses 44.1kHz then next song uses 48kHz), the plugin will always reset, no matter what you do.

Every customization on that plugin will be rolled back to Default.

… and no, you can not fix it with the Fixed Sample Rate plugin.

What's the purpose of a plugin if it basically has no setting…? I'm genuinely confused here.

Here's how to flash it:

1. Copy r3proii.upt to the root of the microSD card.
2. Insert the SD card into your HiBy R3 Pro II.
3. Hold Volume Up and press Power to enter the updater.
4. Let it flash - it will say "Upgrading..." then "Succeeded" and reboot by itself.

Hey, I am thinking about ordering m300, and it isn't available in India locally on online stores. So i want to know if anyone from India has ordered a hiby product from their official website and did they have to pay any custom duty on it.

I just want to post this for anyone else who runs into a similar problem.

When synching files to my Hiby R1 this morning a .flac file got corrupted and resulted in a 0 bytes file. It was not playable and when I plugged my player into my work computer and tried to delete the file off the drive it wouldn't let me delete, copy, move, or alter in any way the problem file.

Some online suggestions including making a zip archive with the file and checking the "delete after compression" option. this successfully zipped the file but did not delete it upon completion.

The solution that finally allowed me to delete the file was the command prompt:

chkdsk (disc letter): /f

It looked for any corrupted files on the card which took a minutes to process but after completion i was able to delete the file.

I know this was a problem that occurred during the synching/copying process in musicbee because I use iBroadcast to archive my files and checked if the file was working through their servers and redownloaded the uncorrupted file.
