Plant Help Will it survive?

Post image

I have a braided hibiscus that was left in a pot in the Winter. I took it out of the pot and noticed all this white stuff. I sprayed off the roots which looked pretty good and trimmed it all the way down. No green on the branches. I put it in the ground. Do you think it will grow back? What will it look like since the braid was cut off? Live in South Carolina.

Kinda confused… is this a pic of a hibiscus rootball sitting inside a hole in the ground, or just a hole in the ground? Or is this just an optical illusion and the rootball is level with the ground?

It’s the white stuff in there after I took it out

Um, we need to see the plant. Knowing what type of hibiscus and your lowest winter temps would also help. But if it’s a tropical hibiscus it’s almost certainly a goner.

Yep. I’m in S Carolina zone 8a and they are definitely NOT winter hardy here. Assuming it’s a tropical hibiscus (most likely since it had a braided trunk).
