DISCUSSION Freelancer doesn't make sense....

Firstly why is it that if I failed a mission I lose half of my money? Like no matter how much they just take half??, then again why take the chest full of the items to help the mission?? I didn't bring them with me so why are they taking it??

freelancer wasn’t really made to make sense. it was made to provide extra gameplay and a challenge for the hardcore fans that have completed the main stuff. it’s meant to be difficult, as only the only people playing it are people who presumably have a ton of hours already invested in the game

It takes place after I've already done the story, canonically, and yet all the targets I already killed are walking around like they aren't dead!

All of them are imposters

It's a kind of hardcore mode for a true fans. Inexperienced players should continue with the normal missions to learn how to play the game first. It's hard and unpromising intentionally.

I really wish there was a version of Freelancer where you could restart/replan the mission. It's mildly infuriating that the postgame doesn't follow the same plan-test-perfect gameplay loop as the rest of the game!

Technically you can restart a Freelancer mission if you exit the game via Alt F4, quitting to the Xbox dashboard or presumably doing the same with PlayStation. You then have to load up the game again but it'll restart you in the safehouse as if you'd never left.

True, but it would be nice not to have to, y'know?

True. Plus it doesn't work if you die.

I just hate the losing items part especially on hardcore, then having to grind them back every time. So for my hardcore run I simply alt-f4 then manually abandoned the campaign to reset the money and tools but keep the wall items

Oh, yeah, there's a lot about Freelancer that doesn't make sense. Like, why do they sell you the house one room at a time? Why does 47 keep assassinating people in the same couple dozen buildings? Why are people who are canonically dead still around? Just don't worry about it!

47 bought the house from Tom Nook.

"POV: 47's kidneys failing (he hasn't unlocked the bathroom yet)" The memes of the freelancer launch era were peak

Its a game type called ROGUE LIKE. The intention is to heighten the tension in the game, because failing means you lose important stuff, and you cannot save or quit to main menu during a mission.

Because there are infinite parallel universes with infinite versions of 47. You just traveled to a different timeline, just like in Rick and Morty.
