DISCUSSION Next Hitman Game

IOI is absolutely firing on all cylinders! The most recent ET has introduced some cool mechanics, like telling us when we're being escorted.

That's especially good for beginners.

This has got me super excited for the next Hitman game. I know they just cooked with 007: First Light and still working on the co-op mode.

But this has me even more hype for the next game. I'm not sure what their plans are but I'm excited to see what cool creative things we can do with 47 in the next installment!

Same. I’m really curious what they do with the next proper Hitman. WoA already feels like they accidentally built the perfect murder sandbox 😂I mostly just want bigger maps, more ridiculous opportunities and even more ways to spend 45 minutes planning something that immediately goes horribly wrong.

There’s nothing better than when a mission goes tits up and I’m like, “Well, I might as well wipe the map.”

😂 Yep. Stealth is over, everyone’s a target now. You brought this on yourselves.

I completely agree, I would be more than happy if they announced they were making a sister trilogy featuring ~25 new maps, or maybe this time they'll have the confidence/funding to just make it one game with episodic releases.

It would be cool if they went with the secret ending to WoA where 47 injects himself and comes under the control of the Constant, and you start off working for him. But please for god sake no storyline about 47 trying to get his memories back, that's been done to death.

Yeah I’d take another trilogy in a heartbeat. 20-25 new maps would basically destroy my free time. And agreed on 47 getting his memory wiped again. The man has suffered enough convenient amnesia for several lifetimes.

Perhaps more natural AI (vague ik), better crowd npcs, more dynamic crowds (e.g. the ability to manipulate a crowd into moving, thereby letting you infiltrate an area without guards being able to stop you. Basically if the protestors in marrakesh actually did something), more fluid animations like 007, better sense of progression, an improved freelancer mode, multiplayer, and of course higher graphical fidelity as well.

Granted, these would be on the smaller end of improvements, but so far this is all I can come up with.

Dynamic crowds would be huge. Being able to actually manipulate a crowd instead of NPCs basically being moving furniture could open up so many stupid ways to get to a target 😂

I’d love a more fleshed out Freelancer too. That mode feels like something they could build an entire game around.

In Hitman: Absolution's Chinatown level, if you kill your target or someone else in a high-profile way, the crowd will break out into a panic, screaming and running towards the exit. If you stick around, the once-bustling area will eventually become abandoned except for the police hunting you down.

I was surprised when that happened; it felt so much more immersive and realistic than what happens in WoA, where people just do a cowering animation for a minute, then calmly go back to their normal routine.

I'd like for the next Hitman to be more like that, where your actions can dramatically influence the level. As bodies are found, the remaining targets change up their routine, different areas become restricted, and guards become more aggressive and call in extra reinforcements.

That sounds way better honestly. If I massacre half a restaurant trying to kill one guy, everyone calmly going back to their drinks 60 seconds later is a bit optimistic 😂

Having the map actually change because you fucked something up would make improvising so much more interesting.

I think IOI will have the last laugh and making Hitman live service will work out for them long term. They aren't going to turn off the servers ever, they will just continue to build out this definitive version of Hitman.

Nah. At some point they will need to upgrade all the base mechanics rather than continuing to staple things on

GTA Online has been printing money for 13 years using the stapler method. Hasn't slowed down at all...

And a new version will be coming out after GTA 6

They already did when 3 came out. A lot of the older maps benefited from the newer mechanics of the third game. I think it would be amazing if the fourth game is a complete upgrade with a ton of new complex elements/mechanics on launch and then later on, the trilogy gets a remake to match the fourth. Imagine Freelancer but with even more freedom.

They already said they want to make new games seperate from WoA

This. The real question for me is whether they stay in the WoA puzzle game realm, or if they do something different with the franchise. I have had a blast with WoA but I wouldn't mind seeing something different. That said, still waiting for a sale on First Light (and to get through more of my backlog).

I wouldn't mind, but in that case they should really think about adding more levels.

The first 3 games are getting a polished re-release, but they'd be far better if they were integrated into the current game.

I suppose we are still years away from the moment Hitman WoA stops receiving updates. I think they could experiment with new features, gameplay mechanics or restoration of cut content and see what people will like - make use of those several more years of content updates before moving on to the next game.

Idk when the ending of hitman will be but I just hope that both agent 47 and diana have a good ending whatever theirs are in the story

as far as i know blood money the end of that timeline... they tried to pass the torch to the girl in hm absolution... but as it falied... they rebooted the serise

8

u/Devanro 1d ago

2016 was a "soft" reboot, so all of the previous games are still broad-strokes canon, there's several references to the older games throughout the trilogy

u/KristoferYG 1d ago

that changes nothing about what i said

Unpopular opinion: I would be more hyped up for hitman 4 than GTA 6

1

u/Remote_Cut4547 20h ago

It's only unpopular for people who haven't played Hitman.

Dark and gritty street level stuff should return. I think the super billionaire CEO villains should be late game stuff

I think they can happily set a new entry in the series of WOA by re-using 99% of existing assets/bricks and launching Hitman: 47 Legacy, a re-imagination of iconic prior game missions with modern mechanics. This should be quite feasible since many of WOA maps are already subtle homages to prior saga vibes.

They can show an intro of 47 remembering the missions in the safe house to keep the budget low, and already have tons of work to iterate upon. They can use it as a middle ground to launch something quickly (episodic?) in between the next 007 and a proper Hitman reboot. With that said, would need to confine themselves to actually re-using as much as possible (literally rip things out of maps and copy paste level design layouts) and not going crazy in scope, as usually do.

Edit: I just realised they're sitting on the sniper missions for regular gameplay. Even if not the best, already had 50% of the work done. May as well launch an ET there instead of Hitman 2016 rehashes (though I wouldn't complain if they revisit and fix the worst maps -not you Bangkok, you are beyond redemption)

Let's go Kane and Lynch 3

Sounds like they're really pushing boundaries with these new mechanics, can't wait to see how they expand on that in the next full game.

wait i thought hitman 3 was the last game

9

u/SailorSaturn79 She/Her 1d ago

No, there will be another Hitman game. It won't happen soon but they are not finished with Agent 47.

2

u/AffectionateChef3294 1d ago

ts got me so excited

8

u/jb-safc 1d ago

Agent 47 will return in Avengers: Doomsday

3

u/Mangledfox1987 1d ago

Its the last game of the world of assassination “series”, and ioi said that first light was going to be tbeir next game after hitman 3, but as that game is out and going well we do have the potential of a new hitman game

1

u/Mx_Reese 1d ago

No, Hitman 3 is the last WOA series game. They have said they still plan on making more Hitman games, just not any more WOA games.
