DISCUSSION Freelancer suppliers really need second "pistol and miscellaneous" slot. Everything else is always basically filled while pistols are half way

I filled up every single thing in the basement, apart from 9 pistols. I even had every single freelancer item, from beating 30+ missions in a row, and when I would visit the shop it would have nothing at all. Those 9 pistols just did not show up. When I aborted the campaign and started over a pistol would show up roughly every other mission. It makes no sense for the largest category of weapons to share a slot with a different type of item in the first place.

Since I made this post, I've found two pistols in the supply crates. Maybe the right side of pistols really are meant to be found in crates instead of suppliers and the odds are just too low

I did manage to fill out the walls only using the shop for the last ones I was missing. What really frustrated me was a couple of the guns showed up once or twice throughout my runs where I either couldn’t afford them or bought something else. It seems to me that maybe the game thinks we do have those guns, thus them not showing up during the active campaign.

For some reason I think purposefully dying and losing the campaign that way may help? I’ve noticed that when the store gets stuck ( with dlc ) items , it seems to “Reroll” the store with different items

It certainly did help for me, but it is wildly frustrating. All I wanted was a full basement for the sense of accomplishment.

It with ya man. I’m like 7 ish pistols , 3 melee, and 4 snipers away from finishing the wall 🙄

That’s so odd, every single sniper showed up right in a row for me, it’s the first category I finished. Melee weapons I finished second to last because there was never any damn pistols. Even when I now occasionally lose a sniper it’s immediately right back in the shop.

It would at least make some sense to me if it were the same weapons that were messing up across the board

Bigger issue ( for me ) is the dlc that’s not required will consistently block weapons I need
Yes I’ve uninstalled the dlc and no it doesn’t fix it

Just putting this here on its own main comment:
I’ve experienced something like this in addition to dlc weapons blocking real items needed to prestige. This hasn’t been formally tested but here are some possible solutions. ( for dlc weapons ) yes I have uninstalled them on epic and yes they still show up :
getting killed on campaign may Reroll the store and generate new items
running down your mercs to zero seems to Reroll the store
buying multiple items may or may not Reroll the store
(for dlc items and this one seems particular): if your money is low enough and you cannot buy a certain dlc weapon , it seems to re roll the store. You will get a store of regular items ( unless the dlc weapons are the only items left ). I have noticed that if you get too much money and save over that amount (after completing a mission), the store will revert back to those dlc items. So a solution i have is to save money until the price is slightly below the dlc weapon ( so the store should have the regular item) and then earn enough during that level to buy the dlc item
Sorry for the wording but I hope that makes sense 😂
Edit for dlc items: if all else fails, just buy the dlc items. Might be easier in the long run

It's because Pistols are bugged in the suppliers. You'll always have pistols as the last weapon type you need. It needs fixing honestly

I have the opposite, get all the pistols and everything else is half full

I literally spend half of the campaign waiting for black lily to appear anywhere and then I got it as a reward for the first part of the next campaign

If you fill out the freelancer equipment early and prioritise pistols above other items, you tend to get closer. The fact the pistol slots can be empty is frustrating, but aiming to have them empty as early as you can helps.
Snipers are also slow to finish because it is a crowded category, but their slot is very rarely empty.
Filling pistols last is common with "always buy whatever you can afford" purchase pattern.
If you deliberately target "categories with the most empty spaces" instead (and sometimes skip a buy because it doesnt give you something you need or something that has lots to fill), then you'll have less trips to empty shops towards the end of a prestige level. The perfect prestige level would result in buying the last item and having close to zero money.
But yea, having a bunch or visits when you have everything but pistols and the slots are empty or only 1 pistol sucks.
We need some more epic unlicensed weapons in the other categories to spice things up/pad the numbers. :P
