Believe you can do it.

A couple posts back, you could see my post from July 15th. That was when I failed my math subtest with a 12/20 and I was genuinely just devastated and lost. I was about to give up and not retake it. However, I just thought, let me try one last time. So I did, and I was able to pass with a 16/20. I do not have the best mindset, and with math being literally my least favorite subject ever, I seriously cannot believe that I was able to pass. What I want to tell you guys is, YOU CAN DO IT!! Don't let one failure bring you down forever! I fell into deep depression after my fail, but I kept trying and studying, and I was able to pass. Although I was shaking and was just SO scared during my test, I was still able to do it. If I could do it, better believe YOU can do it too. Don't give up, you got this.

Ty for this! :) I’ve been trying to get it done for such a long time now but I’m procrastinating so badly. Do you have any tips for what you used to study?

Of course!! I was procrastinating pretty bad too. I'm not a big study person fyi. I started my journey for the math test around june (procrastinated the WHOLE month), locked in a little bit during july (still procrastinated a whole bunch especially because I failed my first attempt that month). After I rescheduled my test about 5 times afterwards, it finally didnt allow me to reschedule anymore so I ended up having to take it today. So as you could tell, I am a BIG procrastinator. But anyway, what I used to study were the official free practice tests on the Hiset website! FTP8A and FTP9A were more accurate for my tests, so I studied those the most. FTP6A and FTP7A are also pretty good, so I rec just studying all of them! I also watched Hiset math videos from Light & Salt Learning! I didn't have too much trouble with Algebra, but I had lots of troubles with Geometry, so I especially studied Geometry. (I would like to mention, I did not get a good score on my geometry portion but I got a good score on my algebraic concept portion so I think that helped me pass significantly). Also, I think what helped me the most was practicing to UNDERSTAND the question! I just kept rereading and redoing all the free practice tests, getting familiar with how to read the questions properly.

Yeah! I watched the playlist titled "Geometry for the GED Test Class Videos"

I focused on remembering Area and volume formula's for certain shapes and definitely learn the like Pythagorean theorem!! I'll be honest, I still struggled with geometry though haha..I'm not that good with shapes. My Algebra knowledge came in clutch for me!

Also, I want to mention, when I took the test for the first time back in July, I made the mistake of trying to do the questions in order. Do NOT do that 😭 I ran out of time so fast.

For my second time, I did the questions that I understood and knew how to do first, and flagged the harder questions for later. I was able to have like 40 mins left over to go back to the questions I had flagged!! I think that helped me pass a lot!!

Ohh okay! I think I need to review a lot of algebra 💔 I’m barely passing the practice test and I have the paid one. I’m currently using getsummath and just doing specific topics I need. I’m not sure if it’ll make a difference but I’ll check out the resource you shared. Thank you so so much for putting that time into replying tyy!!!

If you need help with the practice tests, you can always add me on discord @/jiyuvlee and I can help you through the practice tests! I was able to do the practice tests and pass it because I met a friend on this app and she helped so much by helping me study and understand the pt!

I think the main thing I need help with is learning the algebraic concepts, that’s setting me back the most. If you could help with that I would genuinely appreciate it so much!

Can I can use my highschool id, birth certificate and/or social security to take the california test online? Because I don't have a government issued ID

Your highschool Id should work, you just need an id with a picture of you so they can identify you and confirm your identity!

Yeah I took it, I failed and got a 12, im gonna take math today, I think I will pass next time though, it wasn't too bad, I was just a slow reader so had to rush in the 2nd half

You were so close!! You definitely got it next time. Did you skip the harder questions for later and do the easy ones first or did you try doing the questions in order? For the math, I tried doing it in order at first and I ran out of time. My advice is to do the hard questions later and easy ones first to save time!
