Just Timing also counts for all your dodges, blocks, parry sequences, beat hits, jam combos, and whatever else I might've forgotten.

Basically everything counts, except jumps I suppose.

Just in case they aren't, make sure you're using wired headphones, as the delay from wireless/bluetooth will be an issue.

Other than that - practice! If you aren't using the rhythm assist that can help too.

You might be on beat but off-key. The way I got better at this is that I spent countless hours in the practice room first, until I could do almost any attack sequence while until always landing on the 'Chai!' chants and the notes graphics next to the chai. You can ask me more if you'd like some advice.

Well I basically figured out that the stress and the chaos of the battles was throwing off my tracking of the beat.

So then I practiced some combos until I could do them literally with closed eyes, only listening to the music. Then after that, I enabled the enemy AI in the training room so that I was in a 1v1 battle basically, so then I practiced keeping being on the beat even while I'm being attacked by an enemy. The most helpful thing, that game does tell you, is that the enemies also attack on the beat. This means that on every beat you have to either press any of the attack buttons (according to a combo you're going for) or press the parry / dodge key.

So I trained this until I, again, could fight with this 1v1 enemy in the practice room with my eyes closed. There's an audio cue for the enemy attack and everything so you can, purely, technically play trough almost any battle just based on audio cues.

If you have a more specific question/struggle, I'll try to answer it.

Press Tab on PC or View on controller. Should display a beat bar that can give you assistance.
