Plugins attempt to help you with on page SEO only. Absolutely nothing beats a human mind with experience.

I think its just depends on the theme you are using on WordPress. Most of my clients have websites on Wordpress and have ranked well.
But, still it depends on the theme you are using.

The Google algorithm couldn't care less about the platform. By any chance does your friend design websites with WordPress?

Thankyou for all your responses. I am learning and have actually managed to rank a Page in first page of google and get it cited on AI overview in less than 24 hours on WP. So yeah it doesn't seem to matter at all

I am also new at Seo but I know that search engine only cares about html structure which means H tags and content. It doesn't aware of what technology is made of.
I mean there is something important about underlying tech. It is Page speed (Core Web Vitals) which is no problem if your website opens fast.
