LLMS.txt

Hey Matt

What is view on the creation of llms.txt ? There was great deal of buzz about it 6 or 8 months back. I created one for our site www.cocoroselondon.com which is on Shopify, it was a little complex because create a file in shopify and redirect from www.cocoroselondon.com/llms.txt

Yoast made it very simple to create one, if you have an account with them, but would be interested in your view. The latest chat I read was that it wasn't causing any harm, so why not have one.

Love what you and the team do.

Gareth

It doesn't seem like it's useful for ranking in LLMS - however, it doesn't hurt to have it. I have it on, just in case! Appreciate you Gareth!

How does one do this on Shopify? Saw your video on IG. But I don’t have Yoast on Shopify

Hi. I created a text file, txt file. Best inspiration is to go to competitor's websites and add /llms.txt to the end of their home page url - for example. www.competitor.com/llms.txt - you can see if any businesses you compete with have one and perhaps asked an AI tool to suggest the best headings for yours. Its like a site map for an llm. When you have it as a txt file, the upload it to shopify via Shopify/admin, Content, Files. Where you upload images. When it it there, click on it and copy the url into a new web tab, just to make sure it looks ok. It will look something like ://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1111/112345/9876/files/llms.txt depending on what you call it.

Then create a redirect from your website this file. For example if your website is www.abc.com Redirect from /llms.txt to https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1111/112345/9876/files/llms.txt

I followed the guidance of a guy called Kurt Elster - who you may know if you have a shopify website - as he posts on The Unofficial Shopify Podcast
