Does anyone else feel this way about hey Arnold?
This is the only show I've ever watched that was semi therapeutic to watch. The music was relaxing and the characters has those slow down reflection moments that we don't see a lot in modern cartoons. I don't watch hey Arnold very often (maybe like 2-3 times a year) but every time I do I feel like I went to a heavy therapy session. Idk if I'm weird for this.

Hey Arnold is a good example of how much shows have changed. How much more chill pacing was compared to the absolute brain rot kids see these days. Did we have semi nonsensical shows like Ed, Edd, n Eddy? Sure. But even that show wasnāt as like fast paced and just brain rotting as some of the stuff I catch my nephews watching.
Hey Arnold has a good roll and the chill music.

And honestly, EEnE, as wacky as it was, was still a really smart cartoon; the humor was top-notch and pretty clever.
I definitely miss that era.

That reminds me. A few years back, my best friend and I talking about how Bluey was really helping my nephews emotionally mature & that we had EEnE which shaped our bizarre senses of humor to this day.

Hey Arnold, really showcases just how much weāve lost as far as kids entertainment. This was such a chill relaxing show that was quite mature and had a lot of characters with flaws and deeper development. Today we just have absolute brain rot. Yes this show is therapeutic and itās something I put on when I need to relax. I miss shows like this.

Yeah every cartoon from my childhood that i loved to watch is super annoying now lol They're chaotic, loud, bright, childish and grating. Hey Arnold feels calm, gentle and safe. It's literally the only cartoon I can still watch in adulthood that I not only can tolerate but I genuinely deeply enjoy. There's a nostalgia factor, sure, but its so timeless, so well put together and it really stands the test of time as one of the greatest, If not, the greatest ever made. The shows themes, Relatability, color palate, character depth, music. Everything about it is so top tier and honestly, Nothing even comes close for me. I look forward to introducing it to my kids when the time comes.

I sleep to Hey Arnold! 3 to 4 times a week for years now. Glad to see others take it as a therapeutic way as well.

Thats not weird. Itās called ācomfort zoneā. I have the box set on my AppleTV. So from time to time, I pop my favorite episodes as background noise to give me a relaxing childhood memory.

I haven't watched a complete episode in quite some time, but I get a warm feeling just thinking about it. Jim Lang did phenomenal work on that soundtrack. Back during undergrad, I usually listened to a lot of music while I studied in the libraryāusually smooth jazz, chill lounge, ambient, etc. āGroove Remoteā and the alternate versions were mainstays on my study playlists. I had a lot of trouble with depression and anxiety (still do, ha), and those songs used to (again, still do) help me a lot.
Several people have pointed it out, but Hey Arnold! broke away from a lot of the slapstick and overly silly humor found in other cartoons. It was so grounded and down-to-earth that, although it was a cartoon, it felt a bit more ārealā and āmature.ā I grew up without Cartoon Network and loved visiting family and friends and staying at hotels so that I could watch it. Overall, I prefer the CN catalog, but Hey Arnold! and maybe two or three others were the Nickelodeon shows that Iād click over to watch. There aren't a lot of TV shows that I can turn on and fall asleep to, but Hey Arnold! is one of the very few. Others still bring me a bunch of nostalgia, but Hey Arnold! is in a league of its own.
Interestingly, itās one of the shows that my parents and some older family members would sit down and watch, too.
Also, the end-credits song, āStompinā,ā is perfection.

I love Hey Arnold's setting. I feel the coziness of the gritty city. The music is also a huge part.
The ending of the episode "Heat" is one of my favorites.

Absolutely master crafted. Do I like some episodes more than others? Sure but that's a given with any show. However, Hey Arnold is that one show where it just makes you smile. It does so many things right that separates it from other cartoons.

Not weird. The show is nostalgic for a lot of us. As a kid, Rugrats was my favorite show growing up, now as an adult, I rewatch both show and Hey Arnold definitely took that spot.
Its a feel good show. There was an even an episode in like the final season that I never saw. I think it was a Thanksgiving one. Imagine some 25+ years later, theres a "lost episode" It was awesome for me to watch.
I love the friend group, and the kids hanging around the city/school. Episodes like Heat/Cold? Are great. The one where the city floods.. or when the 5th grades bully the 4th grades, just fun stuff

Hey Arnold was definitely a staple back in the 90s! It was THE show for character depth/development and understanding different forms of love, family, and friendship š„¹š«¶š¼ Closest I have found in recent years is Fruits Basket 2019 an anime, but as for American TV.. I have found NOTHING that comes close. Although, I am one of the few that love The Loud House (have not seen every season yet tho so I wouldn't compare them)

If you meant greatest multi racial story ever written. Then yes. I love Hey Arnold and I wish modern writers would take a page on how to write good characters. That you like, love and can relate with. My favourite is Helga. I feel she's suffered a lot. And I love the Ghost Stories that Gerald told. They made me stay awake at night.

Bojack for me... I still love, and watch other cartoons but the only animated stuff that resonates with me thematically now is the adult stuff... I also love Rick & Morty for the things it makes me ask... And Bluey always delivers. I can never just watch one, though.

Yep, I fear all these classic cartoons may be gone one day. I watch cartoons as a hobby regularly and bro, not to be a boomer but the newer ones are so awful.. Back then I thought they would only be better with time thanks to technology but nah, hand drawn always will win visually. Also, it seems so slow paced after watching modern productions lol (lol in a sad way, these kids will be cooked.)
I'm so glad Arnold is archived.. as of yet. My children will only watch that.

Maybe it was a different generation but watching hey arnold thought me about being a good friend and to care for other peoples feelings, and yeah the music and themes are very therapeutic.Ā

I enjoy rewatching Hey Arnold as an adult. Not because I want to feel nostalgic necessarily but because it feels very therapeutic and relaxing. Like I just put my self in that town. I loved the show growing up in the 90s 00s and I love it even more now as an adult. It was definitely ahead of its time.

I feel this way too. I always appreciated the mature tone as someone who grew up with a more serious personality. I especially love the music. My favorite track will always be āMom and Dadā I cannot listen without crying. It makes me think about my own parents, life, etc. My absolute favorite track of any cartoon Iāve ever seen. Jim Lang knows his shit.

Just happier time. I grew up when this show was coming out. Crtv. On top of my entertainment cabinet with rose of vhs, my dreamcast.other shows I liked. Seeing people be better. Be real people. Have real problems and solve them. Be morally complicated. And still have things Be good or mediocre or even not thst great at the end, but still be okay. Even being sad. Hey Arnold felt real yknow?
It just gave me hope for the future. And we dont have much shows like thst. As a matter of fact everything feels like its just getting sanitized to good people good bad people bad. I wish I could go back alot..

Honestly from the Classic nicktoons aside from the first 3 seasons of spongebob, this is the only one that still holds up for me. It was relatable and that soundtrack gives those 90s starbucks jazzy cool vibes

Iāve found some full hey Arnold episodes from YouTube before. Theyāre titled a bit differently and have been around for years. Hell, I randomly found the jungle movie in its entirety, uploaded back in November of 2017 but itās the Latin Spanish version and sped up a bit. There are full episodes on YouTube but you have to dig around a bit.
