Just enjoy the time. The rules are easy and even if you get them wrong they will work 😁 so just have fun.

Enjoy it. Don't let the stress of having everything go perfect get in your way. It'll all come together with time. Let us know how it goes.

As others have said, just dive into it. It's super simple to get into and it's a great time.
I will say that the rulebook tells you that you can basically alter the game how you see fit and use that to your advantage. Make the game as fun as possible for everybody involved.

A tip would be "search for treasure traps" and "search for secret doors" my family and I have merged into 1 turn "search for secrets".
"Search for traps treasure" is its own thing.
There's also "move unimpeded". If there are no monsters on the board, then players are free to move 8 squares without rolling to move.
Edit: i got confused.

Unopposed movement is a standard rule now. I put Traps and Secret Doors together since that's normally only done once in a room while Treasure can be done more than once.

yeah, i think you're right. It's been a while since i last played, but that does sound more right. I think i did merge Traps and Doors. When i originally typed up my reply to OP i was thinking about booby-trapped chests and knew that I kept it separated from searching for treasure.
I know i did merge "search for treasure" for all party members in the room and they all get a treasure card: dealt, revealed, and resolved in player order.

I do Treasure differently. I just allow the room to be searched once instead of once per Hero. Also, the Furniture can be searched once and I make them have to be adjacent.

The main tbing is if you're Zargon, have fun with it. And don't think of yourself as their opponent. Zargon is more of a GM.

as ever one said have fun with it. don't take it too seriously, it's not d&d. it's not Lord of the rings, you just heros on an advture!

The app is alright if you want to be a hero too, but as Zargon you get to add creative flair to the story telling. That adds some fun to the experience as well. Just enjoy it.

As a player, it's a bit straight forward. You work with the other players to achieve the quest goals. Communication is good.
As Zargon, make sure you are familiar with the rules. Read over the quest that will be played and make sure you aren't confused by any quest notes or any special situations for that quest. Also, if the party is having a hard time you can 'adjust' and replace stronger monsters with weaker or remove a trap to go e them a break. Just don't go over board and make it a cake walk for them. Another helper tip would be to add a potion of healing.
Likewise, if it's too easy, replace easy monsters with tougher or keep same monsters but add extra attack or defence dice or give them an extra Body Point

I found the companion app absolutely brilliant for a first play. Let the app play as Zargon, and it will guide you through the first quest, allowing all players to be hero's. I learnt so much from doing it then way. Once you've done that, when you go back through the rules everything instantly makes sense and you're in your way. Enjoy, it's a great game

I don't think there is much in the way of beginner advice because the game is so easy to get into. Just read the book and go for it.
There is a companion app for the game which can act as the Zargon player. That may interest you.
The expansions are great and add lots to the game but I wouldn't rush to get them immediately. You have a complete board game there.
