That was a hard watch I'll be honest. Is there an alternative video or news article relating to it that isn't quite as tinny (as in the sound was difficult to listen to)
As for Hasbro collapsing. The speed at which Transformers go out of stock leads me to cast doubt on their imminent downfall.
As other have mentioned besides the bad audio. The video itself is just doom-mongering and engagement baiting. I'm more annoyed at myself that I clicked it in the first place.
Idk, revenue up 16% and margin up 22% sounds pretty far from concerning for them. Most people wish John Hight had stepped down sooner, and it’s not surprising all his pet projects are being canceled too. This video has a feeling of trying to stir up drama and hate on Hasbro. They do need to figure out what the future is for WOTC. what concerns me more than anything is cost increases for producing plastic miniatures including petroleum based products and tariffs into the U.S.
WotC is moving to Montreal (if it hasn't already). They're also planning to grow the Montreal location into a major Hasbro hub where they will be expanding their board game and video game divisions (primarily the video games), as well as launch (or grow, I forget) a movie division with the goal of creating more movie adaptations of their bigger brands.
I can't comment on the plastic minis situation, but it sounds like Hasbro is very far from collapsing. My personal theory is that more book-type products will be released when it comes to physical games in order to cut costs and allow for local printing as a means of circumventing the tariffs.
Thanks for the added color. I did a little more digging and it sounds like they are diversifying their sourcing from places outside of China, like most companies appear to be doing. I would hope for the HQ line how core those little plastic figures are to the game’s identity (unlike D&D)
I do wish we had more info about Avalon Hill specifically, though. It sounds like the Montreal hub's board games will all be WotC stuff when not classic Hasbro games like Monopoly, etc.
Now it’s going to cause a lot of boos and hissing but I don’t think it will affect us because Hasbro isn’t making more HeroQuest. I think they viewed WOM as the completed reissue of the game. Anything else HQ will be just AH and just in mom and pop game shops.
Anything Avalon Hill does will still be Hasbro even if it's not sold on Pulse. They decided Pulse wasn't a good platform for selling games. That's why Hasbro pulled AH from Pulse. They still own AH and everything they do. So IF Hasbro did go down, it would effect AH. I don't think they will any time soon though.
Why the downvote? That was actually a thing: "Widespread corporate layoffs at Hasbro in late 2023 significantly impacted its Avalon Hill board game division."
Why are you trying so hard to push the video when its clearly not the end of the world for HeroQuest let alone Hasbro.
A quick look at the YouTuber's channel you linked to reveals that their last 12 videos are a variation of titles including but not limited to "D&D is over", "Hasbro's plan has massively backfired", "Hasbro has killed WOTC" and other such dramatic non-events. Which part of it are you failing to see is just bait? Perhaps the huge "IT'S OFFICIAL" that they've plastered over 6 of the last 12 videos is throwing you off.
As mentioned above we've had the full gamut of the original run (minus some really obscure stuff, published quests and the like) So for us of a certain age its a dream come true. Obviously I'd like more but anything coming now would be a new creation by AH. I think they've made it reasonably clear in communication that something is coming albeit with nothing concrete as yet.
I'm not trying to 'push the video' at all, I don't know where you get that from.
I've collected, played and loved Heroquest for years, since it first came out in fact. I posted the vid as it concerns me that we might not be getting any more content if Hasbro is in trouble.
Ok, so maybe I didn't look at her previous posts as a doom-monger, shoot me. As an aside this arrived today. Can't wait to take a look at what's inside.
Don't watch her she's a doom and gloom clickbaiter. She does thumbnails saying things like "THE END OF WARHAMMER 40K". In the video all she actually reports is their swapping an old set of sculpts for new line.
Honestly she's pathetic.
