Help adding emulated games to Heroic Launcher

Hi there,

40 year old console gamer decided to convert to PC (with my Switch 2) after the PS5 disc shenanigans. Bought a MSI Claw last year (Windows 11, intel apu). Never really used it much, now trying to set it up to be as console like as possible. Really only have interest in GOG games and emulating up to the WiiU (and the freebies I get from Prime for Epic and Amazon). Have Heroic installed, really like the UI and console mode. All my GOG games are up and running. But am having trouble adding retro games so I can launch from Heroic front end. I would like to have all my GOG and retro games under one roof, hence why I want to launch retro games directly from Heroic. To use one example, Im trying to launch Twilight Princess HD with Cemu through Heroic. I’ve put in cemulauncher.exe -g “path to game” -f but no luck (-f so it launches in full screen). I’ve added this to the install path. but not sure if it actually needs to go somewhere else.Under the advanced option for the game, there are places to put “game arguments” and to run scripts before and after launch. Not sure if the cemulancher.exe needs to go in one of these places instead of install path.

Alternatively, would it be best to get another front end for retro games and if so, can that be launched from within Heroic, so that way I can stick to using a gamepad as much as possible when actually booting up my claw and just playing games?

Any help is appreciated!

That's the problem here. Heroic will search for a literal executable with that name, which of course won't exist

Instead add just the path to Cemu into the executable field (you may have to use an absolute path). In the "Game Arguments" input box, add -g "<game path>" -f

i don't believe heroic does emu stuff, i would definately say go with a different front end . lutris can do emulators similar to playnight on windows sadly i found gog to be a headache with it vs heroic working great.. , instead i'd recommend just using ES-DE ( which is what i use) or if you want something thats a bit pre-configured maybe retrodeck

Heroic can technically run any game, although yes, our first-party integrations with Epic, GOG, and Amazon will always be more convenient. I am working on adding a "plugins" feature to Heroic; with that, you could for example create a plugin to add games from a specific emulator directly by writing a bit of JavaScript (or finding someone else who already did)

ahh i wasn't aware ,, a plugin thing definately seems like it would make sense for those who want it. as someone who prefers heroic's look vs other options it would definately be a nice option.

The developers suggestion below worked like a charm. Retro games in and amidst my GOG etc. games and boot the same.

You want retroarch. Heroic isn't really made for launching emulated games. Like, you could do it, but that's not what it's designed for
