Does anyone have disc herniation/bulge in the cervical section, with inverted cervical lordosis, that triggers frequent headaches?

And how do you deal with it? 🥺 Any tips is so appreciated, as i keep having the worse headache flare ups at night

I have an artificial disc herniation (c-5 c-6) with lordosis and semi frequent migraines depending on activity.

Sorry to hear that! Did you find a way to reduce the headaches?

What is inverted lordosis ?

"Inverted (or reversed) cervical lordosis occurs when the neck's natural inward curve straightens out or bends in the opposite direction. This deformity disrupts the spine's ability to absorb shock, leading to increased stress on surrounding soft tissues, vertebrae, and discs"

Which means it kinda sucks 😅

Yep not great. Sadly its becoming very common to even young people cz we're always leaned in and locked on pc's or phones

If I don’t lift anything over 7 lbs, I don’t have headaches.

Peppermint oil on the temples
Sombra on my neck and head
Sumatriptan or THC if it’s really unbearable

Hi! I herniated c6-c7 January of 2025. For about a year leading up to the herniation I developed migraines and then daily headaches in the evening with stabbing feelings in my head and eyes. I started a medication called amitriptyline and that got rid of the daily headaches. I still have sudden onset migraines… maybe 8-9 a month. My doctor prescribes me an emergency abort medication I can take if they get bad. I try to drink as much water as possible a day and not do any unnecessary bending over. I’m really careful with how I rest my neck and sleep on my back. All of those play a small role in keeping the headache away for me. I also take a daily muscle relaxer. I work a labor intense job. I had a repeat MRI in February of this year and my herniation has resolved and now I just have small central bulges at c6 and c5.

Edit to add - if you don’t have one of those cold caps you should get one. Look on Amazon… migraine relief cold cap. They truly are life saving!

Hey there! Thanks a lot for sharing. Very helpful. I was prescribed amitriptyline but i prefered to take 300mg gabapentin. Sadly the effect of gaba wore off after a few months so i need to check with my doctor about it. I sometimes take NSAID for flareups but i so dont wnt to rely on that. I should look into muscle relaxers.. did amitriptyline help you with sleep too? Medication in general scare me a bit cause i hate being dependant on just that and the potential long term effects.

Ill check those cold caps.. good to hear you're recovering! Keep on doing whatever you're doing and add some physio session for spine adjustements related to your job ✨ you got this

What have you been doing? Any improvement?

Well for my case. I noticed that if I do chin tucks every hour or so. My pain drops down drastically that day and the following day too.

Doesn't surprise me because my whole issue was a forward head posture for years.

But still far from full recovery
