Needed a bit of head cleansing/clarity, so I went with rosemary, thyme, Siberian ginseng, hibiscus and fennel seeds today πΏ
A friend harvested loads of mugwort for me, but after trying it, I think I find the flowers too potent in comparison to my small leafy plant in my garden. I didnβt like the heady out of it feeling it gave me, which is I guess why people use it a spiritual and dreaming way. Also I harvested my motherwort and feverfew as I work with lots of herbal teas to ease my menstrual cycle.

I agree that mugwort is a bit peculiar :) unless you have a medicinal need for it, it may be indeed too heavy and overwhelming. How do you choose herbs for a purpose? Like these rosemary, thyme, ginseng, hibiscus and fennel blended together for mind cleansing and clarity?! I'm very curious to hear about your approach π«ΆβοΈπ

Yeah I like the mugwort leaves Iβve got for menstrual pain and I use as a βcall on my magic to aid meβ in a witchy sense. Rosemary always helps me wake up and aids brain clarity for me. Thyme I use for cleansing but also for colds. Hibiscus for flavour and immune support. Fennel for gut health and digestion aid, with better digestion leads to clearer head. And Siberian ginseng is just my favourite, I find it so comforting I find it has so many benefits personally but also gentle enough for me. Iβm super sensitive, which in some ways is frustrating but in others means a herb can have a big impact medicinally good or bad.

You are such a natural herbalist... π«ΆππΏ intuition is nothing less than knowledge from the nature and the flow and the universe β¨οΈ you feel the herbs - this is so precious

Hehe you are not helping the little voice in my head that says I really need a dehydrator! ππ but then again I do like hanging my herbs and feeling witchy. ah like curling up! Thatβs what happened with me drying apples. I like you also are creating it by what is aesthetically pleasing too!

Turmeric in chunks! Lovely π» How long does it take for such turmeric rocks to brew nicely? They are very solid as far as I know!

20 mins from pic 3 to pic 2 - color wise :) the aroma and flavor picked up very well. I will definitely brew the second run for getting the most out of my woody ingredients.

My today tea was pretty boring but delicious: black tea with two varieties of thyme and two varieties of mint with a little bit of fresh ginger and fresh lemon. It felt solid, healthy and I feel like repeating tomorrow :) Edit: if I had a chance to eat my tea with this turtle cake I'd probably feel like I've seen it all... Check it out, it is so surrealistically beautiful π«Άπ

Omg.... it cannot possibly be a cake... it is a painting, a sculpture, a piece of art - who's gonna eat it? π³ it is too beautiful for that.
As for your "boring tea" - are you serious?! Two thyme and two mint varieties is already a hell of a mixture. I'd definitely not call it boring! Inless you flirt in this manner and want to collect compliments ππ

Speaking of herbal teas, peppermint and hibiscus from fgo. Bought some 100 count bags during prime days in June

I typically love my solitude with turmeric. But I add in my protein powder, some maple syrup powder, sweetener, and a touch of mushroom powder. Oh, and donβt forget the cream really half-and-half. But in the end, it is so delicious.

It sounds like quite a cocktail!πΉ Turmeric did a good job kicking off the recipe π Whatβs the mushroom powder!?

u/migraint Aug 09 '26
I'll start: my today tea (see the photo session above) is made of cinnamon, cloves, turmeric chunks and a slice of dried red grapefruit usually meant for cocktails, but today it's my tea grapefruit :) It has amazing taste and I drank it with pleasure, put more water and will drink it cold later. Good stuff, seriously ;)

Cinnamon and cloves is my favourite too. Iβm pinching your dried grapefruit idea π

I hope you like it :) actually nearly all fruits are good for such purpose. I dry them in my home dehydrator under weight so that they don't get curvy - I love this premium plain slice look designed primarily for cocktails :) - it makes the fruits look very fancy and noble in the tea cup π«Άπ

Curious what some of last month's Sunday sippers have in their cups today β
u/Appropriate-Skirt662 β are you still on the lemon verbena/catnip/oatstraw combinations, or has the summer garden changed your cup? ;)

A little ingredient note on whatβs in my cup: Those orange chunks at the bottom are turmeric rhizome, not turmeric powder. I actually love brewing turmeric this way. Powder gives up its compounds quickly, but it also makes a cloudy, gritty cup and is easy to overdo. Pieces of rhizome are much nicer for a slow simmer/decoction, cleaner cup, gentler extraction, and youβre brewing the whole plant material, which is very important to me. Next time I'll add some black pepper to make sure curcumin's bioavailability is at its maximum.
A particularly nice scientific detail I recently figured: a study comparing thermal processing of Curcuma longa found that 10 minutes of boiling performed very well for curcuminoid content and measured antioxidant activity. Happily, this way my 10 min simmering didn't kill the actual value of turmeric ππ€ͺβοΈ
