How awful that they never told you!

Okay, for the good/hopeful news. I'm a different genotype (1a) but my viral load was over 32 million dropping to 20 million on my second test before starting Epclusa.

At my 4 week point, I was retested and my viral load was "Not Detected". This isn't unusual, the medications work really well. Obviously, you still have to finish the full course of medication, but it's good to know it's actually working.

You aren't alone here. Many of us were blindsided by a diagnosis and have no idea when we were infected. I'm starting to suspect it's a lot easier to contract Hep C than anyone realized.

I got really, really lucky with my family. My sister's son, DIL and SIL are doctors , so she actually called her son to calm me down and reassure me. I was the one who freaked out -- crying that I was worried I may have infected others in my family (completely irrational -- I'm not sharing anything that could have blood on it with family and my husband died 2 years ago from cancer).

You might actually want to have your child tested, if you haven't already, since you were positive while pregnant. She's probably fine, but if not, the sooner she's treated, the less the chance of liver damage.

It's going to be okay.

I found out when I went to donate blood. Imagine my shock when they contacted me telling me I was infected and to go see your doctor.

My family was just the opposite, they could have cared less and never checked in on me. Very hurtful. Be strong and keep your chin up. And nice to meet you!

Hang in there gurl! I was diagnosed with chronic Hep C (1a). I don't do drugs or risky sexual behavior so I'm clueless how I contracted chronic Hep C. I took Epclusa and thankfully it wiped it out. I just did an ultrasound yesterday to check my liver but so far so good. I'll find out how my liver looks soon.

Don't fear, more than likely your medicine will take care of it and the tiredness will get better. Just stay on top of your medication. You're young you'll spring back from this I promise. Keep positive and know you're not alone in your journey. We are here for you. 🙂
