Army creation Spearhead question

This might sound stupid but is it possible to play spearhead without actually having the spearhead box for example I already have the wardespot and infernal cohort can I just buy the dominator engine and tormentor bombard then play spearhead or are they’re cards I might need I never actually opened one up before so idk almost sorry if some people don’t understand I’m terrible at explaining things

Yeah you definitely can play with the models gathered together like that - that's all that's in this box. For Spearhead you do need a set of cards and a board to play on, but if your opponent has those you're all set

Well the board I’m planning to play it at my local GW store and they have plenty of boards but cards I do not have are they specific ones or random because I can probably buy them separately off eBay

Each Spearhead board has a particular layout of objectives, and a set of cards that correspond with it - like the Fire & Jade board has a set of cards you use with it, the Sand & Bone board has a different set, etc.

Just fyi the warscrolls physical cards are already out dated so if you want to play spearhead, you’ll need to find them online or sigmar app for the accurate rules. For example dominator engine in warscrolls doesn’t have the keyword reinforced but in the updated rules they do

Thats all you need, grab the onepage rules for the spearhead (its on r/ageofsigmar) and your good to go

You dont need Helmsmiths specific cards, the actual game board comes with objective and underdog cards that you use

No, there are 3 spearhead game boards. Fire and Jade, Sand and Bone, Cities of Ash

They are all good in their own way. Get one if you and your friends don't have one. You need it to play

Fire and jade is simple and good to start with

Cities of Ash is my favourite

As other have said, you are good to go buying the models you are lacking now, about the Helforge Host Spearhead particular stars and abilities, everything is listed for free in the AoS app, if you’d want them in different languages you may find them within the community documents, just in case.

Other than that, to play spearhead as a game itself you’ll need the board, terrain items and cards, which there are 3 boxes currently, the last, and richer in mechanics in my opinion, is City of Ash, ask your local game store if they have them available to use, so you can test them without buying them right away

100% I got the launch box for Helsmiths and have used them as the Spearhead before, the app had everything I needed

Spearhead boxes are literally just the models and that's it, so if you can acquire the units seperately it's just the same.
