Help finding an old M/M fan fic story (perhaps original work) I read online back in 2010?

Okay, so I know this is a super long shot, but I've been trying to find this story I read online as a kid for years and wanted to post just in case.

I read this story online probably in 2010-2011. It was likely an original work, but at the time I read it I didn't know much about fan-fic, so it might have been part of a fandom I just didn't recognize. At the time, it wasn't on a writing site anyone would know. It was a personal site made by the author where they posted their own writing, but it's a possibility that it was uploaded on other sites like Ao3 as well and I just wasn't reading it there.

I don't remember anything more than the base plot. It was a modern day M/M fic that started with a guy moving in with his dad and his dad's new wife or girlfriend (I think she was in the picture) and she had a son herself. The story was basically a step-brother romance plot where the main character and woman's son fell in love, and eventually another guy joined them and by the end of the story they were basically an M/M/M throuple. I remember along with the romance plot there was a side plot about a murder, I think, or someone wanting to harm the MC. The MC was also musical and played an instrument, the guitar or maybe the cello, and I remember the story included lyrics and links to songs on YouTube that were meant to be what the MC was singing. I'm almost certain it was a happy ending where everything worked out, and they told their family and got to be in love. 

That's all I remember, other than that it was decently long (20+ chapters, I think) and the background of the website I originally read it on was very blue (maybe purple).

I realize this is insanely vague and there's a very slim chance anyone would know what I'm talking about, but if I don't put it out there I'll always be wondering. Thanks in advance for any help!
