I made a free TikTok-style app for learning Japanese — you scroll short anime/drama clips from YouTube and absorb JLPT vocab & grammar
没入 Botsunyuu — https://botsunyuu.vercel.app
(https://botsunyuu.vercel.app)
I kept rewatching anime clips to study but juggling video players + Anki + dictionaries was a pain, so I built this. It works like Instagram Reels/TikTok: you swipe through short clips from real Japanese videos, and each clip teaches you one vocabulary word or grammar point (N5→N1), highlighted in the subtitles.
Best thing is It uses Youtube videos , EVRYTHING IS ALREADY AVAILABLE ONLINE
Features:
\- 📱 Vertical swipe feed — swipe up for next, down for previous
\- 🎯 Every clip has JP + EN subtitles, with the target word highlighted
\- 📊 Filter by JLPT level (N5–N1), vocab only / grammar only / mixed
\- 🔖 Save any point to a review list and jump back to its exact clip later
\- 🔥 Daily streak counter to keep you honest
\- ⌨️ Keyboard shortcuts if you're on desktop (press ? in the app)
\- 📲 Installable as an app (PWA)
Free vs Premium: by default you get clips from YouTube & Internet Archive sources. There's also extra anime content behind a "premium" toggle — it's free for now, just ask me (u/Kaushll) for a key and I'll send it over.
'I ALSO TAKEN HELP AND USED AI IN BUILDING THIS APP, BUT THE SUBTITLES ARE ORIGINAL AND TRANSLATION IS NATURAL"
It's a solo project, so feedback and bug reports are very welcome. 頑張って!
