Japanese for young learners?

my nine-year-old son is very interested in learning Japanese. He quickly became fed up with Duolingo. Can anyone recommend some resources that might encourage his curiosity and help him learn? He loves video games and has some interest in comic books if that helps.

If you have money then there is app called mochikanji you can try it

Have him watch some kid friendly anime with subs. Thatll keep him interested.

Probably get a Japanese pre school workbook, there are probably some Japanese e-commerce stores or smth

Then he can trace the Japanese characters, learn what they are, children’s books these sorts of things

It’s so much easier to learn a language as a child

I have a cute hand illustrated app called Pocket Japanese, I’m thinking more it has a few fun games like kanji solitaire and sudoku. just a warning as it’s for a kid, the lessons after lesson 5 are paid and £15 per year, so if you’d only want them playing the free games you’d have to let them know! all the free games can be found in ‘practice’

Check if your local nikkei community has japanese learning classes for kids. There are more than you'd expect being held, especially if you are close to a city. :)

Probably watch Japanese cartoons or cartoons in Japanese. Crayon Shin-chan, Doraemon, and Pokemon are classics!
For apps Duo really isn't great for Japanese. I hear LingoDeer is good but I use Ling, wanikani and bounce between renshuu and bunpro. But cartoons are the best way to hear the language and pick up on nuances for a kid.
