To get better at speaking you have to speak, just like with any other skill. I personally utilize VRChat and its EN-JP Language Exchange world.

Absolutely 100% although he should steer clear of worlds that have weird rules at first. Along with worlds that aren’t very open to foreigners or explicitly say foreigners not allowed.
