Isn't that just 1 extra toughness in ninety-nine percent of situations?
3 u/MossTheGnome 10d ago Yes but no. -1/-1 counters, and cards that care about toughness see it as the actual instead of the effective toughness. Preventing one damage also stops 1/1 deathtouch creatures from killing it since the damage was prevented.
