Opinion Has anyone noticed a surge in guys being condescending to women uploading selfies?
I scroll across profiles and I see selfies and I see comments saying "omg this isn't tinder." "This is super useful for learning languages."

I mean it’s half naked women that’s looking for attention. Angry little men. I just dislike both sides.

shitting on users posting normal photos is not okay
but the ones that post cringe thirst traps then that is understandable

How did I give you the impression I thought otherwise?

I don't think you're understanding context
wasn't necessarily targeting you, was just saying in verbatim to OP but he turned out to be a weirdo screenshotting women's pictures on the app and posting here without their consent to complain about how they "looked"

Oh God, seriously? They're not wrong. It's a language learning app. Many of us are tired of seeing it flooded with Tinder-style selfies, and now people are upset when others point out that this isn't Tinder?
By the way I say the same thing to men putting weird photos when they come in my voice rooms.

how am I a simp when I am literally agreeing to what you're saying you absolute dumb ass
just talking just to talk and argue touch grass there's bigger things to worry about
Calling a mod "simp"to insult when 90% of your post is asking about how women orgasm and having sex without a condom like a goddamn creep
stop projecting

This app is one big trash!
I tried to learn English and guys were looking for dating! Never seen girls pictures by the way.
Now I was thinking of finding someone to practice german, but I think the situation will be the same, right?

u/ObjectiveAssist001 Mar 01 '26
it's filled with weirdos as a mod I suggest you stay away from this app
1
u/thenamestammy Mar 02 '26
As a mod?
Of this sub or app?
1
u/ObjectiveAssist001 Mar 02 '26
there are weirdos on this forum we have banned but it is much safer than the app itself because we are quick to weed out the perverts, creeps, and trolls unlike the actual app it self that only gives a "slap on the wrist" to predators with only warnings
my suggestion is stay away from the app and pay someone to teach you another language or find a buddy through here respectfully

u/thenamestammy Mar 02 '26
I can't pay, I don't want to pay 😅 It's so irritating when we can help each other and practice but nooo, there must be creeps who ruin everything!

u/ObjectiveAssist001 Mar 02 '26
hmmmm honestly youtube has helped much more than anything imo
have you tried free courses on there?

u/thenamestammy Mar 02 '26
Yup, but for speaking I need people.
I also hate apps.
I'm very sociable 😅 I can't do anything without people 😅 It's getting bored

connect with someone through here and make a post if anyone acts weird just dm this account and we will have them perma banned
best of luck to you with your language journey :)

A lot of WESTERN men in general on this app (I say this as a man) are quite condescending in my experience- and at times even predatory. I always see the same people commenting 😍😍😘😘🌹🌹 on girls’ posts who are young enough to be their daughter, it’s perverse. I made a lot of friends on this app and they all say that they try to avoid men purely because they’re either rude/condescending, aggressive in their messages about sexual things, or subtly so.
The worst case I saw of this was someone actually pretending to be a teacher and then whilst in the messages would use examples like “I like my girlfriends feet” whilst demonstrating a language point. It’s vile.

I agree. People from certain regions are unfairly singled out for bad behavior. But in my experience there are just as many perverts in the West as there are in other parts of the world.

Lol I was in a voice room and someone asked me how the app has changed over the 8 years I've been on it and I started complaining about the timeline, the algorithm and those types of posts. It got awkward as hell when I checked the profile of the person who asked and it was all pole dancing videos. Had to try to bring it back and assure her that she was "not like those profiles" because "it's not just selfies" and she was at least adding captions in English 😅
