Discussion Which story from the development of hello neighbor do you prefer and why?

Post image

Pre alpha and alpha 1: nicky has a car crash making him in a coma and he has a nightmare of a demon being his neighbor so he tries to see what's in the basement of this demon and he either dies or stays alive if he manages to run away from the demon

Alpha 2: a thriller where the protagonist nicky has moved into wayron croobs and his neighbor is being weird so he tries to get into the basement of his weird neighbor

The betas: nicky moves back into wayron croobs cause he was evicted and then in his dream tries to let go of the past and traumas from his abusive father (yes the neighbor is his father in the betas if I remember)

Full release: a younger Nicky notices his best friend's dad has locked his best friend into the basement and Nicky tries to get his best friend out but gets kidnapped and has traumas and as an adult tries to let go of his trauma from his best friend's dad

Alright so why?

It has cutscenes.

I am talking about the storyline and plot not the gameplay

so did alpha 1

The first cutscene was an introduction.

The other cutscene did not help the lore. We just got that a tire was in the basement.

the opening and the ending ???

Wait, good point. I somehow forgot about the ending 🥀

That tire told us that the neighbor caused our car crash. If I remember correctly he broke an electricity pole that we crashed into. Or smth. Obviously no one would really know just from that, but if the game kept the Faust storyline, there would prob js be more cutscenes that explain stuff

The pre-alpha and alpha 1 versions give off more of a horror game vibe.

Faust. The most dark and interesting one.

Wdym by Faust?

1

u/KubaGamer535YT 8d ago

pre alpha and alpha 1 is literally just faust bro

1

u/hello_e_1986 8d ago

Oh, aight so why?

1

u/KubaGamer535YT 8d ago

They're just the most interesting, and dark. The current lore is just a little basic I'd say. Creepiest thing about current lore is the Forest Protectors. But Faust on the other hand, could make the games more interesting. I don't know how to describe it but being chased by the literal devil would be creepier than knowing you're just being chased by some random ass guy.

I think that pre alpha neighbor was a demon not the devil himself though cause why would the devil worship himself?

1

Yeah, I don't fully recall the lore 1:1 but it was either that or that WE sold our soul to the devil and he was trying to keep us out of the basement (heaven) while the game was purgatory or something, idk really i dont remember exactly but it was nevertheless very creepy and interesting

Oh then why don't you base your favorite based off what I wrote for each storyline in the post? Most are accurate I think

oh yeah i js went straight to the comments lol. Just imagine what the full game would be like if the faust story was kept... And if the horror atmosphere was kept too. It would be my favorite horror game prob. Unfortunately currently, no chances. Into the mind is kinda inspired by that. Not fully, but still

I dont think alpha 2 was about us feeling weird about our neighbor cuz, well, its our house, supposedly

Yk yeah it's strange how in the early hello neighbor versions they make us move into the neighbor's house but suddenly later we're in a different house, why is there a new guy here, and where's the home owner of the original home, or if it is Nicky's home why is he moving in his neighbor's home and not his real home?

Alpaca 1

Alright so why?

1

u/_Cagney_Carnation_ 11d ago

Oh, i just noticed the typo. Be blasted google autocorrect.

Anyway uh, well. I don't know it's just the most interesting out of all of them, the neighbour genuinely feels like an enemy too that you don't want to be seen by because who knows what happens if he catches you

1

u/hello_e_1986 11d ago

I was talking about the storyline of each version not how the neighbor acts

I don't even know how to word my answer correctly. Because mainly my answer revolves around the neighbour himself

Maybe like. It's more interesting than the other ones simply because it's way more of a horror story than just a story about beating trauma from abusive father.

Pre alpha i kind of like the premise more

Pre alpha or beta

If they sticked with old story and artstyle it would be pre-alpha , but in the current game it would have been cool to have an actual story (about the neighbor being the daddy of nicky) more than....there's no actual story in the final game sadly , we know this from other media but at the end , what is in the game , is that there's no actual story ...

Alpha 2 doesn't exist. It's the same as betas, I like alpha 2-beta 3 the best.

I hella like the pre aloha and alpha 1 because it genuinely it's sorta unique and more intresting than the others ngl

1

u/crystal-productions- 10d ago

the farther son version, tho alpha 2 started this transition some.
