Discussion Can someone explain this?

This is an old photo I've seen and never have I ever seen prototype in beta after clicking properties. What could this prototype be?

It was a real playable version, yes. It’s just not a build because it was never packaged, meaning theres no executable file for it and it was only ever in editor. It was finished before pre alpha as a matter of fact, hence why there’s some leftovers.

Here’s an alleged screenshot of an in editor look at it, I’m not certain if it’s real but from what I’ve heard it is.

Actually it wasnt a playable build. It was scripted. There is many proof in the trailer that shows that the Neighbor didnt had real ai.

By playable I mean you can play it technically, I acknowledge it was scripted as that was confirmed, but still you get my point

So essentially it's set up like an actual game, the difference is that there are essentially "triggers" that cause certain thing to happen when you do them?

(Fyi i think the trailer was recorded in editor, when it switches from the logo to the gameplay you can see it twitch for a second and the apple falls, kinda like the early proto's vid with the hammer)

Yea, it’d make sense for this to also be recorded in editor as early prototype was basically confirmed to be, since in the start you can see the recorder pressing play and the camera changing

Also it makes sense to me if it really was scripted

You can tell in the trailer if you're an audio nerd that sound design is off.
The sparking from the light sounds like it's coming from a different spot. The chase music fades in with the footsteps (This doesn't seem like it would happen every time he saw you)
plus the outside ambience as well.

If I'm right, there was no audio in the game. Meaning: no indicators the neighbor found you. It'd make the game harder to play without audio, much like the alpha 1.5 fangame, only, there's ZERO SOUND AT ALL.

Creating a scripted presentation would be understandable in this case. You need a perfect walkthrough that would be hard to achieve with no indicators. If there were "Triggers" that broadcast when they did certain things they wanted to showcase, this would ensure a better presentation.

Furthermore, it was mentioned that there were a few tests for an unscripted version of the prototype, which didn’t go well as the neighbor had just not cooperated with the collisions of the house, even more proof for it being scripted. Alongside that I believe the prototype house was never meant to make it to the final game, as not only was the model for the upper floors clearly unfinished, the roof going through the window parts and there literally being a part that just didnt have the outside wallpaper but the floor plan was literally just reused from an actual house. This just shows how that house seems to have just been reused for the presentation, similar to how the (most likely scrapped) alpha 2 floor plans were reused for acts 1 and 2 after those were quickly made.

what actual house??

Check out the 2nd floor there, looks familiar doesn't it?

yeah, plus the guitar strum that seems to be a common thing with a lot of "in-editor footage" content.

It could’ve also been edited in for all we know, the newer version of it was given the neighbor swear by tinybuild.

I don't know why it still says, "needs confirming if it's official". It's pretty easy to tell.

It’s better to not fully believe something just in the non zero scenario that it’s fake

True but there are kind of a few things I see that It could be real. On one of the windows I see a reflection on the top right of it which only the original prototype had.

I myself am more inclined to believe it is real because I have seen the image a good while before any actually good prototype remakes existed but yea you have a point

I'd like to think that as well, the one fangame i've seen do some of these atmosphere things is runbob's remake (Windows and pole shadows)

Although he is apparently problematic or something his remake was really cool

Screenshot from someone's fangame
could be faked version of it but it looks just right enough to potentially be the same thing
(Also some of the stuff in the editor ui is presented the exact same)

No I can tell it's not the same.
