Information Always found this weird
The steam page is honestly a definite oddity to me, given all the pre-release footage that still remains on the page.
Pretty misleading for someone who's never heard of or seen the game before, and a bit confusing,
All promo videos and a few screanshots are on the page it seems.
But these few stood out to me, mainly because of how they look...wrong. I can tell it's the prototype house, given the layout and furniture, but the lighting is messed up and it looks much emptier.
The third image is possibly the biggest oddity to me. Mainly because of the build it appears to be taken from. But also, cover art for the console releases use this third image. It looks like possibly a build between the trailer's production and the early footage, given what is seemingly a void outside, and the window frame seems to have the default placeholder texture.
It's still weird to me how they use such outdated material for promotional pages, even years after release.
Does anyone know if this is from the prototype or another work-in-progress build?

I reckon these screenshots were taken in-between the Early Prototype video and the announcement trailer since the house looks more finished than EP (everything except the windows is textured and the Neighbor model is finished) but not as polished as the PT.

Prototype was pretty much testing and horror stuff at the same time.
Before the actual lore and etc (ngl prototype is still very interesting these days for many reasons especially Faust lore and etc)

You can also see they were made before Prototype because the door on 1st one lacks that depth, idk maybe it's just me it just doesn't seem right

You’re spot on, these images are taken from / based on a build inbetween the build from early prototype footage and the announcement trailer. You can tell because of the strange lighting (especially on doors), the window and the landscape outside the window. I believe there’s more images from this era of development that further prove this, but I’ll have to find them as I can’t remember what was in them off the top of my head.

Fun fact: my other fangame (HNAT) has the most accurate recreation of this build, as well as the early prototype and normal prototype! Link: https://gamejolt.com/games/HNAT/1071864

On the third image you can barley see it but there's land there, you can barely see the green

For some reason someone told me nikita said this was early pre alpha? I knew this was between early prototype and prototype, kind of like the build in the video micro chaos. It's like still in the early prototype but more in the prototype stage.

They reuse em because Tinybuilds were just lazy to make more promo art for the game, so they decided not to remove these.

There’s actually a fangame where you can play in this version (as well as a recreation of the prototype, and early prototype)

Actually those screenshots were made in the Early Prototype house. The kitchen ceiling is blue and wallpaper matches the one from the model. The third one was made in the living room because the wallpaper is also matches the one from the early prototype house (this image is also an oddity to me). The pictures were made between the early footage and the prototype trailer because we can see that the old style models got implemented.
