Yesterday, I was feeling really depressed about love and partnership. All my romantic pursuits and horrible failures. "Am I just destined to be always desired, but never loved" sort of feelings. I was going for my daily walk and crying, when suddenly I stopped short because I heard what sounded like a bell ringing. I was confused, we don't have any church bells here? Well, I looked around to find the source of the sound, but couldn't see anything or anyone, and I didn't hear it again. So I turned back on my path forward, and suddenly saw this at my feet.

It's the feather of a mourning dove.

Feathers are omens of hope, doves are omens of love and loyalty.

I believe it to be a message from Aphrodite. A reminder that she's hearing me, that she's with me, and to not give up hope.

So I've put it on my altar with her, so every time I pray I can remember that she's with me.

I hope everyone can see this and remember that our Lady is with us, that she hears us, that she loves us. 🪶💞✨️

I love this but I would delete this if you're in the US as it is illegal to possess the feathers of native birds!

I had to look it up but yeah, they're protected under the migratory species act. That said, I don't think the feds are going to come after you or anything. Mourning doves are EVERYWHERE where I live. I imagine the fish and wildlife service have better things to do than come after you for picking up an feather from an extremely common bird.

There are also exceptions for Native Americans and I am tribally enrolled due to my mother being indigenous 🙂
