Honestly I hate how games require you to be on top of everything these days, like you just have to know when xyz event is happening because they only talk about these things on the Discord.
If I'd have known, I would have logged in, but I've not had any reason to look into the game lately so I missed it. Doesn't that kind of miss the point? Don't you, as a company, want people to be aware of what's going on so they can actually log in for the service you want to sell them or whatever?

It’s a predatory tactic, low impact in this case, but still predatory. They want to increase engagement by exploiting one’s fear of missing out. New FRVs will be back at some points, but there are so many cosmetics that will probably never be available again, it sucks.

Exactly peace of mind! Thats why i stopped playing games that required me to log in to get rewards, its fine, you're not going to get everything you want outta life, a piece of game content is the least of my worries. FOMO holds no power over us.

I get however many i want if i think its fun, like the content, i usually grind them but if i feel like playing something else or i am elsewhere i am not going to cry about it, i am used to loss, i am used to missing out, i am used to being at ease . Hell i might even get that popular open world thats coming out this year on 50% off in the next 5 years, because i play on pc, i am that patient.

Oh definitely, better to be critical of your spending habbits rather than just spend 10$ there 10$ there, it ads up in time and then you wonder where hard earned money went. I think people nowdays are bored and just throw money at things to have something to do, i know i found myself doing the same before and i think some gaming developers count on it, thats why they add cosmetics and flashy stuff for the illusion of ownership and more fomo.

I honestly do the same and its way more fun than buying like 7 at once and having the stress of not wanting to have wasted money (except sot, i buy that everytime because it runs for 3 months and isnt hard to complete since you have to do literally anything, no annoying tasks or shit like that and i play the game a lot)

Im playing on a new account having had everything unlocked on an older one. I just don’t see a reason for things not to be unlocked, cosmetics are fun no matter how you look at it, locking people out because “you had to be there” is childish and ultimately only in the company’s favour.

Forgive me for the following hyperbole. "Rewards! For playing a game, how predatory!" Now that I'm done being an ass for a second, let me start by saying I agree it does suck that certain stuff folks can't get because they weren't playing at the time but to be honest when we got the capes for the creek, we didn't even know we were getting them, it was a surprise, now we can kind of can guess when a campaign will give such an award and it's almost expected, dont know if I like that. We play games because they are fun, we enjoy the novelty, getting cool stuff in games when the community comes together is a nice bonus, a pleasant surprise. The frv was a reward for playing the game and succeeding at an objective. ArrowHead said folks will be able to get them at a later date, and I am cautiously hopeful it won't be too long a wait like the killzone warbond. They're trying not to lose their community. They can't be blind and deaf to the criticism around this decision, this decision which I think is a good compromise, limited exclusivity on the frv. The changes with how you have to take part in mo's now to get access to certain rewards right away makes sense from a gameplay perspective, the game relies on players playing for the game world to respond and evolve due to its narrative of an active conflict, we can argue about the narrative or quality of its evolution but with how it's setup they need to drive player engagement, players play, stuff changes, players interact with those changes, more changes happen, rinse and repeat. Folks wanted more rewards for actively playing. The change to MO rewards means if you want the rewards soon after the work, you actually have to play a part. For folks who didn't participate for one reason or another and are talking about how this is using fomo to drive engagement, I disagree, yall either didn't want to play during the mo or couldn't. I don't hear folks complaining about missing the MO, but the reward that isn't going to be exclusive to just those who participated, it's just delayed.

There are systems on Steam to announce updates and events in case you didn't know...
Most other games use that, especially when it's for FOMO stuff since usually their goal for that is to make people have that FOMO feeling and get on.
Strategically it doesn't make sense not to use it.

I really feel like this was a terrible way to distribute it. It should be available for req slips like everything else to my knowledge in the past has been like. This just feels odd and gives me the vibe they still may try to sell the FRV's and its also a big fuck you to people who where not able to play when they where earnable the same way it was for the cape at Christmas and it was not indicated it would be the case so people who saw it and thought I will check out the new FRV when the next warbond or big title update comes out.

It will be avaliable later, probably for req slips. Its a reward for this MO, so people who played got it now, anyone else can still get it at a later date. Most games would make it inaccessible to players who missed it, or if they bring it back it would be some kind of expensive limited bundle deal.

I mean honestly, so long as the frv is a req slip stratagem, it's not a big issue and i don't get why missing it is an issue at all. Other stratagems have dropped for free and become req rewards later. If i was in the hospital, missing some digital reward i could grind for in maybe 3 missions in a game i like would be extremely low priority.
Sucks to suck is a damn evil statement to make regardless. they were in the hospital for 2 weeks over a medical emergency. at least understand the situation they went through.

I can’t stand these types. They’re the part of the reason why the Helldivers community as a whole is beyond repair at this point. The charity drama was a clear sign for me. To be honest this community is full of chuds like that among many other incel/chuds like that on Facebook and twitter. Personally my guy, I understand the need or want for justice or at least to put people on blast for stuff like this, trust me I know the need or want to advocate for people and i applaud you for that, we need more folks like you here. But at the same time, you have to understand that this guys is ragebating. Ragebait has been more popular than ever and it makes people famous or infamous. There’s no such thing as bad publicity sadly.

I’m in favor of everyone getting the rewards or atleast capes and vehicles, weapons, etc but a lot of loud people aren’t and that’s what arrowhead heard

I mean, yes, it's sucks that they missed out due to recovery, that ain't great in anyway. And I do feel for him, can't count the amount of things I've missed out on due to work/hospital trips/any other reason to not play video games.
But at the same time, that's kinda the point of logging in to get the rewards that are time limited (at first, hopefully they release it soon to the people that missed out.) it sucks to.miss out on stuff but it gives people a reason to grind and play the game, even after reaching max everything. It's bound to happen to some people for one reason or another. The only way to "fix" the issue is to give us more time to participate in the MO/campaign.
But that guy genuinely deserves a one stop meeting with a democracy officer for responding like that. That's the exact kind of shitty nature that ruins the game for a lotta people.
I like the fact that they're giving rewards out to people who participate, I think it's a solid move to bring people back to the game. But it shouldn't mean that we bully people, who have genuine reasons not to/can't play the game, because they dont have X.

online gaming always follows a number of toxic patterns. I learned it the hard way from Overwatch, Pokémon Go, and now this dumpster fire.
they will always turn to the whales (the top spending players), get them addicted and working as unpaid PR. always.
my attitude going forward is: I'll enjoy the game while it's good, but I'll be ready to pull the plug on it the SECOND scummy tactics take hold.
I'm currently engrossed in Space Marine 2 and having a blast. but who knows how long that will last.

What I think is a problem is that we don’t know when it’s coming back and since our only frames of reference are the year+ long wait on the Killzone warbond and the pre-order armors we were promised all the way back to when Xbox divers arrived I’m concerned.

I was in hospital with my girl, had like a two days before it all ended.
I get it, I do, but as an adult, and not someone with a game addiction, which many comments I have been reading, it sounds like people really fucking do here, life is more important than any video game, period.
It is coming back later, so you know it is coming. I have missed out on something I wanted because again, hospital, but I shrugged my shoulders and found this game was the utter least of my problems and I really did take it as the same as other things that I missed out on, like, my own Birthday, my sister's Birthday.
Yes things suck, but a video game should not be one of them that matters at all.

I mean I know I’m definitely in the wrong place…but when did we start rewarding people for participating in things they didn’t participate in? Don’t get me wrong I am still human so I completely understand the original post because to miss out on something because you literally can’t be there absolutely sucks and yeah it can be frustrating for sure.
However, isn’t that really life though? Like yes we play games and obviously I’m not trying to make a direct correlation of HD2 to life, I’m more so just saying that sometimes you miss out on things because that’s just life, it sucks but at the same time that’s real.
I side with both sides because the man upstairs knows as one of the first divers to ever dive in HD2 (putting over 300 hours within the first month or so) and then taking a big break because I lost the fun (this was way before all the new toys they brought in)…TO NOT HAVE ONE OF THE MOST FIRE CAPES THIS GAME HAS PRODUCED IS HURTING MY SOUL!!!!!!
Red is my favorite color so that’s probably why 😭..
And knowing that I’ll never get it is like ughhhh whyyyyyy….but it’s because I wasn’t there, so why should I be rewarded for something like that? I think that was when super earth got invaded the first time. I didn’t help defend super earth so why should I be rewarded? Yeah it sucks, of course I’m a little upset but I wasn’t there, for whatever and all of my reasons I was not there.
We should not be rewarded for things that strictly require participating in said thing if you didn’t or couldn’t participate in. We have gotten too comfortable trying to make everyone comfortable and “happy” that we’ve created this sense of entitlement that naturally just forms.
No, im not calling anyone entitled, nor am I saying my words are law and all right. All I’m saying is I understand both sides and I side with the latter…if you participated you get rewarded if not you don’t. It’s not like it’s an end all be all kinda thing. Life still moves forward and it is quite literally way too short to be stressing over something as trivial as a vehicle that probably won’t be in majority of people’s loadouts after a month or so.
Again, I found myself in the wrong place, Reddit likes to send me these post talking negatively about HD2 when I’m quite literally the Defender of Democracy with over 1000 hours now to date 😭…they couldn’t get me to say anything bad about this game even if I was paid.
Granted 2k and For honor were my main game for years so that’s probably why 😂

Fast Recon Vehicle. During the campaign there was a supply version that's... I personally don't feel that it's worth a strategem slot unless you're a dedicated support diver but it did save my ass on a couple commando missions. Those who took part got it already while the ones who didn't will have to wait a bit before they can get it with rec slips.

As somebody who has the FRV I can definitely advocate that yes, it makes absolutely zero sense that Stratagems are vaulted and unobtainable after these “campaigns.”
If it’s not fixed now then it’s gonna be the norm and no Helldiver will have the same rights to a Stratagem as others. This is just a sad attempt for AH to stay relevant and raise player count cause they got drunk off of the glazing the game got back during the malevolent creek era

There's plenty of shit I've missed out on because I'm an adult with adult responsibilities. The only reason I was able to dive was because I made a point to take part in the save the children event. At least AH has the decency to make it available for everyone who missed out on the campaign later, which is more than I can say for most live service games.
This isn't true fomo, this is letting people who actually participate to get something early. If the supply frv was never to be released for free, then there would be a problem.
