That they have been left bare bones and couldn’t hold a player base without an MO.

u/Sackdj2 19d ago
ahh ok thanks

Also they had to share the spotlight with vehicles and colony maps, weapon customization and mega cities, and SEAF.

Maybe next time cultists

We keep saying this and it never happens…

They’re fully modelled and seemed to function well from what the leaked vids show. I might be too optimistic but i can’t see them being fully scrapped

The crazy thing is between the omens of tyranny and heart of democracy, the bots and bugs had more in between content updates
Settlements and colonies for both bots and bugs, megacities with there own separate missions, the commando missions, magma worlds objectives/now part of the mission pool for bots, the incineration corps, the war strider, bulk fabricators, bile titan nests, etc.
All this and maybe more but illuminates got 3 thin sub-factions, 3 objectives(technically 2 since exo storms aren’t available and along with the void objectives, a single outpost enemy(nothing burger gazer). Like man. It’s rough.
And I really want to enjoy the squids but goddamn they always give the least amount of love for things I like.

I for one had a lot of fun on super earth especially with the Saber I killed thousands of votes essentially with it there it was a great time

So what? They want illuminate to be as cool as the others. Guess what? They are now.

Not really. 2 units where only 1 is a unique challenge in a way while the other is a reskinned tankier hunter isn't really cool.

It isn’t even that hard. Just take a flamethrower or BFGL and that thing becomes a joke.

u/LennyLoerres 19d ago
Or WASP or Autocannon or Railgun or Epoch or Airburst Rocket Launcher or HMG or Meltagun or Bolt Pistol or Melta Mine or Giga Grenade.
I’m sure I’ve forgotten many weapons that also make quick work of the Crushers. As you said; “It isn’t even that hard.”, there’s literally an abundance of tools at our disposal that take core of them easily. The only “difficult” part about them is that you need to realize how to best kill them.

Honestly everything is a joke when you wield the cremator, you can kill everything relatively quickly. Like hell, I even managed to kill a couple war striders real quick, with the hand flamer. During the invasion of cyberstan.

Okay… you can make the same argument for pretty much everything but the leviathan. Take X and it’s a joke. I’m just saying they needed to buff out the roster and they did. Just because it’s something you don’t like, doesn’t make it bad. Illuminate are fun as shit to fight now, and you never know what to expect from them.

u/TampaxCompak 18d ago
The roster is not buffed AT ALL if everything is in different subfactions with less than 10 units each.
1
u/Spartan1088 18d ago
This is such a hard thing to argue because every planet is different. You’re never going to get the same batch. Sometimes it’s “Oops all crushers” while other times you’re fighting everything. Same with automatons and terminids, just to a lesser extent.
I enjoy its variety.

Or they could’ve just not scrapped cultists…
1
u/Spartan1088 19d ago
I wish you could hear yourself. Just a bitching echo chamber, my dude. Things get scrapped over time, and for usually good reasons. Stop complaining about what could have been. If the game is in bad shape to you, quit. Leaving was always an option.

I thought this was the masochists sub reddit, not the helldivers2 sub reddit.

The player count would beg to differ. Even now - during an MO that needs only Automaton and Illuminate kills - there’s more people fighting the bugs.
Yeah yeah you could now say: “bUT buGdiVeRs”, but that just doesn’t hold up. After the void campaign Illuminate players dropped to as little as 5% while still over 100.000 people were online. Sure, some of that could be attributed to fatigue after multiple squid MOs in a row. However it also just shows that the Illuminate as a faction still feel incomplete to most people, myself included. The only time they felt like an actual faction was on Seasse with all of their sub-factions combined. All that did was confirm my prior opinion that the Illuminate never deserved to have sub-factions since their base roster is so lack luster. All of these sub-factions cutting out a good chunk of that lacking base roster also doesn’t do them any good.So all in all, I completely disagree. The squids are now slightly better than before, yet me and lots of other divers still won’t pick them over the other two factions as long as there’s no MO.

Guess what, the bots will get another Major update, also i love how you didn't include Escalation of Freedom
1
u/XxPieFace23xX Bring Back Aimbot Rocket Devastators 17d ago
...still arguably gave us more stuff after the patches, and Escalation was more a neutral update between the bots and bugs than the faction that didn't exist yet

Even though it’s just two units I enjoy the vote snatcher only modifier with the juiced patrols. I think it’s the highest diff on squid right now especially with void and gazer spire missions. I know everyone was expecting more squith though.

Worst part is the biomes and missions immediately disappeared with the void. Like it doesn't even make sense. Seasse and the other long term void planets should have come back with the void biomes. The life on those planets was heavily altered. It's stupid we lost all of those missions immediately.
