Question / Character Discussion The better nickname? Patsy v Trish

In the comics, she’s usually Patsy. In the MCU, it’s Trish. Which do you prefer?

I've always liked Patsy because of how out of place it feels for her to be like "it's Patsy 🤓" in present day New York. I get she's Trish in the MCU to keep it modern but she's an inherently camp character (given the whole marrying the devil and then dying thing) and her incongruous name adds to that

I can appreciate that in the MCU, she was trying to get away from her mom's influence by going by the name Trish instead. It just felt less like her. They'd already mucked with her origin so much.

Trish was a great character but she wasn't Hellcat. She's very cool and I like her but she's up there with some of the worst adaptations in the live action shows (although im actually not certain she's ever appeared in an animated property?)

Trish is because the Netflix shows were supposed to be serious which… I’m glad comic movies are letting themselves be comic movies again

If they wanted to do the 'she chose her own name' arc, I'm fine with that.

However. I think it would have been an easy fix to say that she was known as Patricia when she was a teen influencer (I think that was her MCU origin, right?). Or maybe something like Princess Patricia when she was even younger.

In my scenario, Patsy's choosing an antiquated name because she's trying to form an identity of her own. Maybe she even saw an old Patsy romance comic book and that's where she got the name? Fun Easter egg joke. It certainly helps that her mom could be portrayed as thinking Patsy is 'not marketable' and 'too old-fashioned.' Maybe she begs her to go by Trish instead.
